...And with that, the automaton fell.

Roars of Triumph were heard as the citizens of Corona cheered. They had won. They had defeated their enemy.

But you were one of the few people who heard the gasp of pain coming from inside the automaton right as the black rocks pierced it.

And with that, your whole world fell.

Your sister was one of the only people who had heard it too. She threw you a concerned look and you sprinted to get the alchemist out of his machine.

Tears blurred your vision as you tore at the metal with all the strength you had left.

No.

No, this couldn't be happening.

Not when you had gotten this far.

With assistance from Rapunzel, you finally managed to open the automaton.

And what you saw made you stumble back.

You covered your mouth in shock at the sight.

You saw Varian, with a gaping wound in his side.

"Oh no, no, no, no."

You kneeled in front of the alchemist, hoping to stop the bleeding. You tore off some fabric from the skirt of your dress, pressing it to the wound as he hissed in pain.

Rapunzel could only watch, panicked. She ran over to her parents, leaving you and the alchemist to yourselves.

"It's no use, (Y/N)."

"No, no- don't- don't say that! You'll be okay, you'll be fine. Save your breath."

"(Y/N), some of my vital organs were damaged. I don't have much time-"

Varian coughed, spitting out some blood in the process. He put his hands on yours, pushing them away from his wound.
