We're currently inside of the gymnasium for the Morning ceremony every Monday. I'm not interested in flag ceremonies but I'm listening eagerly today because this'll be the day when they will announce the winners in our Sci-Math quiz bee last Friday.

My face lit upon seeing Sir Morayta at the podium, siya kasi ang nag-handle ng Sci-Math quiz bee kaya for sure, siya rin ang mag-aannounce ngayon.

"Good morning everyone, especially our Grade 11 students who participated in Sci-Math quiz bee last Friday. Today I will announce the winner along with the second and third placer from the said quiz bee contest."

Pinagsalikop ko ang dalawang kamay ko, I'm getting nervous. I'm confident with the answers in the quiz bee but I can't calm down since I'm competing with someone. I want to win this or I'll lose a bet.

"Third placer in Sci-Math quizbee is...from STEM-B, Miro Peliciano, please come here on stage"

Agad na nagpalakpakan ang mga estudyante but not me, I can't clap at this moment.

"Now for the second placer, congratulations..."

Agad na bumagsak ang balikat ko pagkarinig sa pangalan ko. Ang mga kaklase ko ay nagpapalakpakan at naghihiyawan dahil sa tuwa, pero hindi ako.

"Congrats Lori, OMG naka second place ka" Rosetta cheered. Tipid lang akong ngumiti sa kaniya bago labag sa loob na naglakad papunta sa stage.

Pagkaakyat ko ay sinalubong agad ako ng School Principal para iabot ang 2nd place trophy at certificate. Nakipagkamay din ako sa kanila pati kay Sir Morayta.

Hindi pa kami pinababa agad, so I stood at the back wearing my usual straight face expression. I already knew who won this quiz bee, hindi ko na kailangang manghula.

"And now, the first placer, congratulations... Louis Kingsley Mendez from STEM-A"

Napairap ako nang marinig ang pangalan niya. I thought I can win this time, but I lose at him again.

When I saw him went up at the stage, I glared at him. Our eyes met, the corner of his lips rose. Is he mocking me?

Pinanood ko siya habang kinukuha niya ang mas malaking trophy at Certificate. He's not smiling, he just look boredly at it then shook hands with the teachers.

They let us stood at the center, beside each other. I'm standing between the two STEM students while they're taking a picture of us.

I felt a slight nudge in my arms, "I won again, I guess better luck next time, my dear Lorelei" Loki whispered at me.
