His panicked state caused her laugh more, leaving him bewildered and confused.

'It's alright. there's no harm,' she beamed, her dark hair plastered on her face, lightly holding his shoulders while he clutched her arms tight, as the two floated in the cold water, already shivering

'Ok at least let me help,' he insisted, grasping onto the dock where people tittered in shock at how the mere hybrid collided with the Great Heredity Witch

He got out of the water first, to hoist the descendant of the Daniella household, trying to avoid the eyes of the onlookers who whispered of his rudeness. The Green Witch who was bidding her farewell was louder than the others, as he stomped towards them

'How dare you interrupt us you filthy hybrid!' he shouted furiously, shoving him aside and reaching his hand out for her, 'Are you okay m'lady?' he asked, his expressions immediately softening, his voice becoming delicate. Seeing the Green Witch made him almost vomit, and he started to walk away

'I'm okay Jaeger,' she glanced at the soaked tiger who walked away, assembling the box he had dropped in the process, his tail slowly wagging, looking like an upset kitten. thinking about it made her smile.

'Besides,' she made her voice loud enough for him to turn and stare right into her fiery eyes.

'It's been quite a while since I felt such a thrill,' her smile danced with amusement, before turning to the Green Witch, 'I wish you safe travels. I hope you arrive safely,'

'I'll make sure to return for the Yule Ball. Until then,' Jaeger reached for her hand and planted a kiss, 'Farewell, Adelie,'

While the adolescent love blossomed, the tiger hybrid who finished helping the passengers continued to observe

'Have you lost your mind?' his brother couldn't help but exclaim

'I lost it a long time ago,' he scoffed, causing his older sibling to roll his eyes

'Don't be sarcastic at a time like this,'

'You are watching me feast on my victim while having a casual conversation how could I not be sarcastic?' he gestured to the blood on his hands, and the corpse on which he was feeding, her face wholly ruined and bitten off. If Remelan felt any remorse, his face didn't show it. His brother felt nauseous as he got a glance at the gruesome body of the girl and turned his head away

'Oh just hurry up already someone will see,'

'Well they won't if you keep a lookout,' he replied and resumed eating. That was what they would do. He would lure humans into the forest, with his brother watching over as he would consume them, with very little batting an eye as humans disappearing was pretty normal in this place filled with unnatural creatures

Even if it meant a hybrid with a curse and a wicked plan

'I mean-bearing a cursed child in the Daniella family?' his brother continued, looking around the endless darkness of trees, 'Are you insane?'

'It's a perfect plan,' he started licking the blood off his fingers. He had consumed what he wanted from her; the flawlessness her face showed concealed all the hatred. He wanted that. And now he could feel his face heat up, unsure if it was the curse or the anger he felt as he thought about how happy the witch looked, how she had no care in the world, how she pretended her kind did nothing wrong.

'Think about it,' he continued, zipping his jacket on 'They're getting a taste of how much people suffered because of them. How many families were ruined? How much pain they have to endure for being gifted with their beautiful inherited curse,'

Despite being the older brother, he really couldn't say anything. He wasn't as persuasive, strong, or determined as people assumed older brothers should be. He couldn't blame Remelan either. He was raised by their parents that way. To hate. To loathe. To seek revenge. He, on the other hand, wasn't cursed. And he was told to be grateful for it. Though he couldn't understand his brother's pain, he knew one thing

He didn't want his brother to lose himself amidst his pain.

He was everything he had.

'Look I understand how horrible it is,' he tried once more, 'But still, don't throw your morals away for those who never had them,'

'And let them live their life to the fullest?' Remelan snapped and turned to his brother, 'Let them be showered for their love and good deeds?'

He saw her face once more. The fiery hazel eyes the dark hair in wavy curls, the sunkissed face, the warm smile...

He shook his head. Under that face, pumped the blood of the demons. He was not going to be fooled by that.

''I'm not changing my mind. I'll do whatever it takes,' he walked passed his brother, whose shoulders sank in defeat

'I'll make them pay,'

'Stay with me,'

The two swayed with the soft melody, everything else blurred in their surroundings. The moonlight reflected against her face, her face ever so breathtaking, her eyes ever so sharp looking at his. He avoided her gaze and mumbled reluctantly.

'I...I can't,'

'Why can't you?' she insisted, trying to reason with him. After all, he was a stubborn kitten

'It-'

'Is it because of the rumours?' she asked. And his head snapped towards her, and she realised that was the reason. Her eyes softened.

'I don't care about them Remelan. I only care about you,'

His gut wouldn't stop twisting, no matter how many words of assurances flowed from her soft lips.

What was he doing?

What am I doing?

'But-but your family-'

'I'm sure they wouldn't mind one person not marrying within the family,' she cut him off once more, her smile directed to him and only him.

Wasn't this what you wanted? "Isn't" this what you wanted?

'And Jaeger?' he tried one last time, grasping at any straws for excuses. though Jaeger hadn't arrived from his trip, Remelan was certain they were betrothed for her families' mighty future

Her amber eyes flashed, as if breaking from a blissful trance, as they slightly frowned, eyes adverting to the floor

'He's a man of many motives,' she whispered, 'My Family loves him. I don't,'

She turned to him, her hazel eyes connecting with his soft brown ones. And gone was the witch who couldn't stare at him for long before breaking into a hot mess. She was a different person right now.

And Remelan didn't want her to stop looking.

'I love you Remely,'

'I...'
