Part 26

I woke up from a nightmare, by some miracle I hadn't woke Nat and Wanda, though it would've made me feel safer if they were. I decided to go find Yelena, she was usually up eating ice cream watching tv at this time. However I only heard Melina humming in the kitchen, the top step creaked and I panicked frozen in place.

"Yelena if that is you I'm highly disappointed in your skills." I soon saw her looking up at me from the bottom of the stairs. She seemed almost shocked to see me she stared at me for a moment before speaking.

"Hello y/n, can't sleep?" I shook my head. "I had bad dweams but mommies are s'eep." Melina nodded. "That's not good is it? Do you want to come down here with me? I am not planning on sleeping anytime soon." I nodded.

"Come on." She held her hand out but I stood frozen. "Come here sweetheart." She gave me a confused smile when I shook my head. "No wan' to." Melina studied my shaking and smiled sympathetically. "Can I come to you?" I nodded reaching out for her the tears building in my eyes. "Alright, no need for tears. I've got you, are you alright for me to carry you?" She opened her arms and I clung to her.

"Why don't I make you some warm milk to help you sleep ?" I gave her a small nod and a smile. "I used to make your mama warm milk and honey when she couldn't sleep. We would stay up and tell stories until she fell asleep then I would carry her back to bed." Melina smiled warmly at the memory.

"What was mama wike?" Melina placed me on the counter. "Well she was a feisty little thing I can tell you that. She always had an obsession with the sky, she would lay out for hours just staring at the stars. I never understood that but it was one of my favourite things, she always find love in the smallest things as long as she had family she was perfectly happy... she was perfect. I think I forgot how much I loved her until I saw her with you. You gave me back my Natasha, thank you y/n."

"I wan see stars!" I smiled turning over so I could look out the window. "Hey careful or you will fall." Melina chuckled adjusting me so I was sat correctly. "We can go outside and look at the stars in a moment do you want it in a cup or bottle?" I pointed to the bottle. "Baba p'ease."

"Good manners little one." Melina praised, smiling at me. "Okay let's grab you a blanket and we can go outside it's a little cold out tonight." Melina carried me outside and sat me on her lap, the blanket wrapped around us. "Wow that's pretty!" I smiled looking up. "Yeah. You know what? Those are actually part of the Lampyridae family. And the glow, the glow that you see, that comes from a chemical reaction called..."

"Bioluminescence." A voice behind us finished, I turned to see mama smiling at us. "Hey, you're supposed to be in bed." Nat said sitting down next to us. "So are you." Melina replied, Nat just nodded. "Couldn't sleep."

"Milk and honey?" Melina asked noticing the mug Natasha was holding. "Yeah, it's not working, it's not as good as I remember." Nat sighed disappointedly. "That's because nothing is as good as how mama makes it. Here I'll go make you some, take the sleepy baby." Melina handed me to Natasha.

"Hey baby, you okay?" She asked rubbing my back making me feel sleepy. "Mhm I had a nimare bu Melina helps."

"I'm sorry baby but I'm glad you're feeling better now." After a few seconds I could no longer fight off sleep and I fell asleep on her shoulder.

No ones pov

"Did something happen or you just couldn't sleep?" Melina asked when she came back, drink in hand. "Just couldn't sleep?" The russian sighed. "Me neither, though I dont sleep a lot anyway." Melina replied. "I better take y/n back to bed, I will be back in a minute." Nat excused herself, earning a smile from the brunette.

"Nat?" Wanda whispered, sitting up. "Yeah?" The redhead asked turning back around. "Are you okay?" She asked quietly, rubbing her eyes. "I'm okay, just couldn't sleep, you should have some cuddles with y/n and get some rest."

"What if I want to cuddle with you?" Wanda asked making the russian smile, shaking her head.  "Go to sleep Wands." She whispered before closing the door behind her.

The sokovian sighed, slightly disappointed, turning over and pulling y/n closer to her.
