Jealousy At Its Best

Five Years Later

Even since Alina saw how much love Aliya was getting from her Nanny Lea, she felt something was missing in her life.

Her mother's love and her father's care

Alina couldn't help but feel jealous of her sister Aliya, who needed her father's love and protection, but she knew that she wouldn't get it no matter what she did.

Rukiya didn't even care about her daughter's school achievements except whenever she got her report card.

When Rukiya overhears Nanny Lea congratulating Aliya for getting number one on her report card, that's when she starts telling Alina to do better than Aliya.

"You must win in everything against her. You must make your father and I proud. Do you want to disappoint your father and me? Next time, study harder than ever," Rukiya tells her daughter, who knew that she did her best in the exams.

"No, mamma. I don't want to disappoint you and dad..."

"Then work harder. You aren't allowed to go to your playroom until I see a better result on your report card", her mother says to her.

Rukiya then got up and walked to Alina's playroom and locked it with a key. She even told her nanny not to let Alina play; all she needed was to make her study more.

I will not let your daughter win, Farha. Just like you did all those years ago. Alina will always come first, no matter what, and I will make sure of that.

Alina had tears in her eyes, but she didn't want to show any weakness near her mother. But as soon as Rukiya walked away, she ran to her room, threw herself on the bed, and started crying.

Will I ever be good enough for her? Why do they always compare me with Aliya? Who is she?

Alina started to study more and didn't even have dinner that night. She was just in the first grade, and her mother didn't care about that. All she wanted was to win against Aliya.

"Alina, come and have your dinner...."

Her nanny called her for dinner, but Alina didn't want to go to the dining room to face her mother, who was disappointed in her for coming in second on her report card.

"I am not that hungry; I will eat later," Alina tells her nanny, who couldn't help but feel worried about Alina.

But she had no right to worry about her. That's what Rukiya told her—that her job is to look after Alina and not worry about her.

She quickly walked to the kitchen and asked one of the maids to prepare a plate of food for Alina to take to her room.

"She is just a child who needs love, care, and protection from her mother. She doesn't need to get scolded just because she came in second place", the nanny says to herself as she walks to Alina's room to give her the plate of food.

"Alina, I brought you some food. Why don't you take a break for five minutes and eat your dinner?" her nanny told her.

Alina nodded and walked over to her nanny to eat the food, but as soon as she heard her mother's voice behind the door, Alina quickly moved back to her studies as she didn't want her mother to scold her.

"It is okay; I will tell her you are eating."

Her nanny tried to get Alina to eat, but the little girl was too scared that she would get more than a scolding from her mother.

"Okay, but only a little bit," Alina says, and she starts eating the food.

Meanwhile, Nanny Lea couldn't help but feel sad for Alina, as she is an innocent child who will be trapped in her mother's schemes.

Ya Allah, I wish that I could help her. But Rukiya has forbidden her to even go near Aliya and me. I pray that she gets the help that she will need.

"Nanny, are you alright?" Aliya asks her when her Nanny stopped feeding her.

"Yes, I am fine, alhamdullilah. Just thinking about what presents to give Zayn on his birthday," Nanny Lea tried to change the mood.

"You could get him a toy car or even a pair of shoes. Running shoes," Aliya says.

"That's a good idea. Come on, let's finish eating dinner so that I can go and pray," Nanny Lea tells the little girl. "And you need to go to bed," she added, smiling.

"Can I pray with you today, please?" Aliya asks her Nanny using her puppy eyes.

"Okay, you can pray with me after you have finished your dinner," Nanny Lea says to her.

This made Aliya giggle, and she quickly finished her dinner.

Meanwhile, Alina was in bed, crying her heart out because her mother never looked after her unless her father was home.

She never had the love that Aliya has for her nanny, Lea.

Why is she better than me? I will be better and will earn affection from Mom no matter what I need to do. I will do it just for her.

In the coming days, Alina started mistreating Aliya in school along with her friends.

Why?

Because Aliya would answer questions that the teacher asked the class.

But that didn't go unnoticed by Zayn and Muskaan, as they started to stay close to Aliya.

Even though both girls were in the same class and kindergarten, Rukiya didn't care about that. She wanted to crash Aliya because she is Farha's daughter.

"Do better, Alina. You are my daughter, and as my daughter, you need to be on top of everything and everyone in the class. I don't want a daughter who is lazy and can't maintain a good grade," Rukiya says to her.

Alina just nods and tries to do her best in school, but each time she comes in second to Aliya.

So she hatched a plan to study with Aliya in school so that she could take what Aliya knew and use it against her.

But that didn't work either, as the two girls aren't the same person.

Each of them has their own mind, and their intelligence is different.

I have to do better.

I need to do better.

These words became Alina's daily mantra until she reached her goal of fulfilling her mother's dream.

And that's to crash Aliya.

Children are innocent but can be easily influenced by their parents. They have brains that can be changed into something that isn't them. Teach your children to love, care for, and help one another.
