The number isn't even saved

The number isn't even saved. Looking from the screen and back to Damon I don't understand why he's trying to hide an unsaved number. I'm actually not sure if I should be more concerned that he has the number memorized so it can stay unsaved.

Watching as he answers the call he puts it on speaker which catches me off guard. I didn't ask him to pick up, I just wanted to see. 'Hey.' His voice is dry.

'Hart.' It's a woman's voice but she's much older than the both of us. Like the type of woman in her forties who you'd see an a golf club with her husband.

'Hey Walker. You're calling?' They refer to each other by last names? How official.

'I was going through the reserves list and it seems that you never called back?' She sounds frustrated with him. He looks frustrated with her but he isn't showing it through his voice. I assume he doesn't have the luxury of doing that with her so I wonder what they're relationship is. There's definitely a power dynamic.

'What did the other reserves say.' He clears his throat to cover the obvious hope in his tone.

'That's not what's important. You're one of few who are prioritized so we need a definite answer from you specifically.' I hear clicking on the other side of the call. Changing my position I freeze when the bed reacts to my movement. 'Where are you right now?'

'I'm with my girlfriend. I'm actually busy at the moment, if I could call you later—' He speaks with so much certainty that I can't help but smile. Take that old lady, he's busy.

'I can't provide you with that time.' The clicking stops. Now it's silent between the two of them. Wow, this is awkward. 'Can I remove you from whatever you're doing so we can have a talk.'

Not giving her an immediate response he looks to me with an apologetic smile so I nod. Climbing out of bed he turns his phone off speaker before leaving the room. Okay. Older woman who radiated golf club energy is who's been calling him. Or at least who called him right now. Sophia claimed he was calling Tessa but he cleared it up and said it was Jordan's friends and the girl who was involved so now I'm confused. Maybe it was both at different times?

Sitting up, I pull my knees to my chest before pressing my fingers against my throat. Despite the mint I can still feel what he tastes like. I don't know why I used my tongue but I guess I felt like my hands weren't cutting it. He was hard and throbbing and it was clear that I wasn't doing much to relive him so I just used my mouth and not for a second did I get that gutting feeling. Not even for a second. I didn't feel my stomach churn and I didn't feel like I was going to throw up. All I wanted was for him to feel good and that urge only grew when he would react to something I did. I just want him to be happy.

Opening the door he comes back in and the first thing I pick up is the change in energy. He was talkative and bubbly earlier but how I don't know if I should communicate with him. 'Are you okay?'
