Chapter 22

"Nandini...you really should do a checkup." Riddhima insisted. It was the day after Karwa Chauth and the two girls had come to the hospital for their shifts.

"Yahan? No way...Ma yahan hai. Manik ko agar paata chala toh pareshan ho jayega." Nandini refused.

"Chill sis....kisiko kuch paata nahi chalega. Ill do the tests for you." Riddhima then led Nandini into an empty room and did the checkup.

"Well?" Nandini asked her sister as she looked over the reports with a serious expression. "Kya hua?"

"Nandini...." Riddhima looked so worried and shocked. "I...Im so sorry..."

Nandini closed her eyes, afraid of what she was gonna hear.

".....tum.....tum...toh.....PREGNANT HOOO!"

"What?" Nandini opened her eyes and stared at Riddhima who was now grinning ear to ear. "You....YOU SCARED ME!"

"Hahaha! I know....tumhari shakal dekhne layak thi!" Riddhima laughed. Nandini rolled her eyes but couldnt help but smile.

"Im...Im pregnant....main ma banne wali hoon." Nandini was in tears.

"Arre...isme rone wali kya baat hai? This is great news!" Riddhima wiped her tears. "Main bata nahi sakti main kitni khush hoon. Im gonna be a maasi!"

"Yeh khushi ki ansun hai Riddhs." Nandini smiled. "I cant wait to tell everyone...."

"Me neither....Main na abhi Cabir Bhai aur Abhi Bhai ko call karti hoon." Riddhima whipped her phone out.

"No! Riddhs....I love our brothers par Cabir Bhai na...All India Radio se kam nahi hai. I want Manik to be the first person I tell..." Nandini replied.

"Ok.....whatever you want."

Manik entered his room to find a gift box on the bed. Confused he slowly picked it up.

"Yeh kya hai? Aaj toh mera birthday bhi nahi hai..." Manik wondered out loud. He opened it and inside was a shirt. Manik took the shirt out and read it. "....Papa Malhotra? What?"

"Uffo Mr Budhu Malhotra....abhi bhi nahi samjhe kya?"

He turned around and saw Nandini standing there with a smile. 

"What? I dont get it....yeh iss shirt pe Papa Malhotra kyun-" Manik's eyes widened as he finally understood. "Wait.....Papa? As in....me?"

Nandini nodded.

"Nandini.....tum....matlab hum...sach mein?" Manik asked emotionally. Nandini nodded. "Im gonna be a Dad? Im gonna be a Dad! Yes Yes YES!"

He put the shirt down on the bed and picked Nandini up spinning her around in happiness. 

"Manik! Manik! Manik!" Nandini squealed closing her eyes. Manik put her down and kissed her cheek.

"Im so so so happy! I love you!" Manik hugged her. "Wait...is that why you fainted?"

"Haan....aaj hi checkup kiya maine." Nandini replied.

"Kisi aur ko paata hai?"

"Well...Riddhs ne checkup karwaya so she knows but not anyone else." 

"Toh lets go tell everyone!" Manik pulled Nandini along with him as he went downstairs where the Malhotra Family & Rehaan were seated.

"Manik...kya hua?" Prithvi asked his grandson. 

"Ek minute DJ." Manik said. Meanwhile Nandini msged Cabir to come over with everyone else. "Pehle Cabir aur bakki sab aa jaye and then....We have an announcement."

"Kaisa announcement?" Viren asked.

"Abhi paata chal jayega Chachu." Nandini replied.

Finally the Dhawan's arrived, Riddhima was grinning since she already knew what the announcement was.

"Kya baat hai? Humme yahan kyun bulaya achanak?" Harsh asked. Raj just shrugged since even he had no clue.

"Papa woh...mujhe aur Manik ko kuch batana hai." Nandini replied.

"Kya hua bacha?" Neelam asked.

Manik & Nandini looked at eachother and held hand before responding at the same time. "WE"RE GONNA BE PARENTS!"

"KYA?!" Everyone was so surprised. Neelam & Nyonika both hugged Nandini kissing her head, While Mukti & Meera squealed in delight.

"Hum Mama banne wale hai! Yippee Ki-yaay!!" Cabir & Abhi started dancing. Nandini giggled seeing their silliness. One bye one everyone congratulated Manik & Nandini.

The next day, The Malhotras held a huge party to celebrate Nandini's pregnancy. Many important people were invited and Manik didnt leave Nandini's side for even a minute. 

At that moment, Manik got a phone call. "Nandini...I have to take this. Main bas abhi aaya okay?"

"Haan baba...Ill be fine. Ma yahi hai." Nandini motioned beside her where Neelam stood. Manik walked away to take the phone call.

A few minutes later, Raghav Gupta entered the mansion and looked around angrily. Finally he found Neelam. "YOU!"

"Raghav..." Neelam was shocked to see him after so many years.

"You b*tch....toh itne saal tak tum zinda they. Aur iss aafat ko mere pass chodke apne yaar ke saath shaadi kar li?" Raghav growled.

"Raghav...tumhe paata hai na tum iss waqt kahan kade ho?" Neelam said. "Himmat kaise hui yahan aane ki?"

"Aur tum yeh kaise baat kar rahe ho mere Ma se?" Nandini glared.

"OH...TUM and all huh?" Raghav raised his eyebrows. "Malhotra kya ban gayi...tujhe mein itni himmat aa gayi ke tu mujhse aise baat kar rahi hai?"

"Haan aa gayi hai himmat...kyunki main ab akeli nahi hoon! Mere paas meri puri family hai..aur tum? Tum mere kuch nahi bigad sakte. So Mr Gupta....leave my house right now!" Nandini said.

"Why you little-" Raghav raised his hand to slap Nandini but suddenly a hand grabbed his wrist. It was of course, Manik.

"DONT you dare..." Manik said in a dangerous tone.

"S..S...S...Sir....main...woh..." Raghav gulped in fear.

"Zinda rehna chahte ho toh abhi iss waqt nikal jao yahan se." Manik said. Raghav nodded and ran out quickly. Nandini let out a sigh of relief and hugged Manik. Meanwhile, Raghav watched them from a distance and was getting angrier by the second.

"Inn dono maa beti ne meri kharab karke rakh diya hai. Pehle Neelam bhaag gayi aur phir iski beti bhi bach gayi Malhotra khandaan mein shaadi karke. Inn dono ko aise nahi jaane dunga main....no way. Nandini Malhotra....ho lo jitna khush hona hai, kyunki aaj tumhari khushi ki akhri din hai." Raghav promised himself.
