The next morning, Neteyam made his way to Tatianayi's hut, playing with his spear as he thought of what to say. She hadn't met him at his mauri this morning and it wasn't the day Romarri was supposed to teach him more about the boats.
Gulping as he reached her door, he gently knocked, listening closely for movement. After waiting and not getting a response, he slowly opened her door with furrowed eyebrows as he looked around the small room.
That's when Neteyam found her, curled up in her hammock in a fetal position as her hand covered the wound on her side. A thick blanket hanged off the side of the hammock and soft breathing was heard.
Leaving his spear by the door as he closed it, he slowly walked over to her to wake her but found himself hesitating to do so.
Her soft lips parted as she slept, face and body so relaxed he could feel it too. "Tatianayi." Neteyam whispered, stocking his hand down her arm to softly wake her up. But it didn't work as she she only sighed, turning over and trying to get closer to the warm hand that had brushed her.
"Wake up, Tatia." Neteyam whispered closer to her face, brushing her skin. It seemed to work this time as Tatianayi's eyebrows began to flutter open and adjust to the bright light. A small yawn escaped her mouth before locking her eyes on the boy who had woke her up.
"Neteyam? Why the fuck are you in my hut?" Tatia scrunched her face up in confusion as she looked around and then looked the boy up and down.
He wore his cummerbund around his waist and necklace that clung to his neck, he wore a black loincloth as well as his leather wrist bands that use to belong to his father. "You were supposed to be at my mauri an hour ago and I thought you were in trouble, thought I'd stop by here first."
Her eyes widened, jumping to get up but hissed as she held her side in pain. "Maybe you should just rest today." Neteyam quickly went to argue, holding his hands out to stop her moving more." "You need to train."
He shook his head. "I want you to be well enough."
Tatia sighed, bringing her legs to her chest and running her hands over her face in despair. Neteyam smiled as an idea popped into his head, kneeling down on the floor to be faced to face with the girl. "How about you teach me that finger talk of yours?"
