Three days before my next training session, Saturn convinced me to join her at another one of Lianna's parties. I was reluctant, but nothing would have stopped me from being with her at any moment I could be. I could tell that this time I left, it would be harder than ever. Two whole weeks without my beautiful Saturn.

When I saw her in her lacy black dress, it felt almost worth it. This moment with her could not make up for the infinite ones we had already lost, but that was all the more reason to savour it.

"You look lovely, princess," I murmured, spinning her around to get the full view. She was absolutely enchanting.

"You don't look too bad yourself," she grinned.

I was nothing compared to her.

"Are you sure you want to go tonight?" I asked, giving her one final chance to change her mind. I knew it was no use.

"I'm sure," she said, standing on her tiptoes to kiss me.

"You wouldn't rather be alone with me?" I mused, losing all hope in a quiet night with her.

"We're always alone together," Saturn pointed out, "it will be nice to be with others."

I couldn't have disagreed more, but I would always give my goddess what she asked for.

"Alright, we'd better go, then," I said softly. Lianna's room was directly beside Saturn's. Based on the noise level, or lack thereof, I knew that we would be some of the first to arrive at the party. That was exactly how I wanted it to be, as there would be fewer eyes on my Saturn when we arrived.

"Ahh, Saturn!" Lianna exclaimed when we entered her room. She came and hugged Saturn tightly. Lianna was not a problem in my eyes, until she began to serve Saturn alcohol.

"I thought you said you wouldn't be drinking tonight?" I reminded her as she accepted a can from Lianna.

"Let loose, Calvin," Saturn said, "I want to have some fun."

This was not going to be fun. It was going to be torturous to watch my Saturn slip away into an intoxicated shell of herself.

I brought her to a couch, locking my arms around her body. I did not want her escaping to the dreaded table of shots, or to anyone other than me. I was possessive of her, yes, but it was for the best. She was a danger to herself, being so unnaturally attractive.

As others began to flood into the room, I noticed the one person I had dreaded seeing this evening. His arrival was inevitable, but it still caused my muscles to seize with distaste.

When Jupiter saw me, he appeared to feel the same.

"What is it, baby?" Saturn asked. That was a new one. The poison she drank was bringing another side out of her. Lianna had just given her a shot to take alongside her drink. It infuriated me.

"Nothing, love," I replied through a clenched jaw. She noticed my unease and scanned the room for its source. Her shoulders fell when she spotted Jupiter leaning on a wall across from us. They locked eyes, and Saturn couldn't seem to pull away.

"Kiss me, darling," I murmured, tearing her focus from her brother. She slowly broke their eye contact to place a half-hearted kiss on my lips.

"What's on your mind?" I asked softly, tracing circles on her thigh.

"Jupiter," Saturn muttered, downing the rest of her drink. I took the can from her and set it to the side.

"Do you think we should leave?" I asked, hoping she would finally agree with me that this party was a bad idea.

"No," Saturn murmured, laying her head on my chest. Her simple answers were concerning me. She was not usually so closed off, it must have been the drink. When Lianna came over to give Saturn more, I fought the urge to slap it across the room.

"Thanks, Li," Saturn said softly, hardly paying attention to what she was taking from her friend. She drank back the shot in an instant, then fumbled with the can. She cracked it, and winced.

"Ouch," she muttered, sucking on her middle finger.

"What have you done?" I asked, pulling her finger out of her mouth. Blood trickled down her hand where the can had cut her. How could one person be so clumsy?

"Come," I said, shifting her off my lap. I scanned the room and found the door to the bathroom. I felt Jupiter's eyes follow us across the room. I made sure to close the door behind us.

Saturn grimaced as I pulled her finger under the cold water of the sink. "Be nice," she muttered.

"I told you that you shouldn't be drinking tonight," I reminded her, tightening my grip as my frustration got the better of me.

"Ouch, Calvin!" she shrieked. I released her hand. Fuck. I had done the very thing I had vowed to never do; hurt my Saturn as a result of my own anger.

Saturn's cry had been loud enough to temporarily silence the party. I glanced down at my white sleeves and noticed they were speckled with drops of Saturn's blood from the high water pressure. I looked like the perfect villain, and everyone was going to see it.

"Saturn, I am so sorry," I said softly, touching her arm gently. She flinched away from my gesture, and my heart fell. I persisted. I couldn't allow her to be upset with me for this.

"What can I do, princess?" I asked, resting my hand on her cheek.

"Just leave me alone, Calvin," she mumbled, turning back to the sink. I watched with my breath in my throat as more of her blood spilled down the sink with the remainder of her trust in me.

"Don't be like this," I pleaded, "you need to let me help you."

"You've done enough," she said pointedly. She was right, I had. And now it was my job to make it right. I waited patiently for my chance to intervene, and it came quickly as Saturn became increasingly impatient.

"It won't stop, Calvin," she cried, shutting off the water. Her finger continued to bleed in obscene amounts for such a small cut.

"Let me see," I murmured, taking her hand gently in my own. I needed to be careful with her now, to prove that she could trust me to care for her. Not wanting to stain one of Lianna's towels, I eased her finger into the folds of my sleeve and pressed gently on the cut to slow the bleeding.

"Ow," she mumbled.

"I know, darling," I said softly.

"Your sweater is ruined," she said with a drunken slur to her tone.

"I don't mind," I replied, checking to see if the bleeding had slowed at all. It had. I reached over her and opened the cabinet above the sink. Inside, I found a box of bandages. I secured one around Saturn's finger, a temporary solution. I pressed a soft kiss to her wound.

"I'm sorry for being harsh with you," I said, "I think we should probably go home now, don't you?"

Saturn nodded tiredly. "Calvin?"

"Hmm?"

"I forgive you."

I smiled weakly. "Thank you, love."

Without warning, she put herself into my arms in the way I loved so dearly. I met her with a warm embrace, feeling grateful that this whole evening was nearly over.

If only I had known how wrong that assumption had been.
