Barely a month it is at UNILAG;

A place of unimaginable experience
A place that brings hope even amid hardship
A place home to lecturers who are after our lives

For the first time, I experienced Adulthood
Mama wasn't here to wake me up for morning prayers
Michael's absence was finally here yet I felt unsafe in the reality of my desires

I wanted to go home so bad countless nights I dreamt of Mama's meals
I want to lay in my bed so bad countless nights I woke up with waist aches
I want to live up to Mama's expectations so badly countless times I knew I was letting her down

Mama said my virginity was my trademark UNILAG thought otherwise
Auntie Eniola warned me of boys yet I wanted to eat this boy so bad.
AuntieTemi said time is of the essence but I want it all today!

Omoh e choke!

"Onyinye holds on to her head as she gets up from her bed. It took her a few minutes to recall last night. She attended a welcoming party hosted by some freshers"

ONYINYE
(She turns to Maria)
What is the time?

MARIA
Wow, so you are finally awake?
I thought you would spend the whole day sleeping.

ONYINYE
Please keep your voice down my headaches.
(She manages to sit on one of the plastic chairs in the room)

MARIA
Why won't your head hurt?
You spent all night drinking and doing only God knows what.
(She picks up some of her books)

ONYINYE
What time did I get to the hostel?
How did I get to the hostel?

MARIA
(She laughs out loud)
Onyinye don't tell me you don't remember.

ONYINYE
If I did, I wouldn't be asking you na
(She drags her feet to the sink)

MARIA
Are you okay?

ONYINYE
(She turns to Maria)
I'm fine I just felt like throwing up.

MARIA
Alright by the way Anastasia and Frank brought you home last night. The three of you were so wasted I wondered how Frank was able to drive.

ONYINYE
Omo, remind me not to ever stare at liquor again.
(She scatters her hair In frustration)

MARIA
I warned you Onyinye but you wouldn't listen you weren't even invited to that party.

ONYINYE
Maria, please don't start.
I still had fun regardless
(She said in self-defence)

MARIA
If only you know how you look right now, you will rephrase.

ONYINYE
Oya e don do abeg.
(She picks up her toothbrush)

MARIA
I'm leaving for class now.
(She stares at herself in the mirror)
