I fell for a boy with wild, curly hair,
A skater boy with a cool, edgy flair,
Dirty blonde and free-spirited at heart,
But alas, our love story was doomed from the start. His smile made my heart skip a beat,
But he didn't feel the same, it was bittersweet,
I tried to ignore the cigarette smoke and weed,
But it was clear his love for me would never exceed.

We'd skate together down the street,
But my feelings for him I couldn't defeat,
For every time I saw him, my heart would ache,
Knowing we could never be more than just friends' sake.

I longed for his touch and his carefree style,
But he only saw me as another girl with a smile,
In silence, I watched him with yearning eyes,
Dreaming of a time when he would realize.

That I loved him for who he was,
And wanted to be with him because,
He was all I ever wanted and more,
But it seemed like it was never meant to be, that's for sure.

As time passed by, I knew I had to let go,
And accept the fact that he would never know,
How much I loved him and how much it hurt,
To see him with other girls, my heart left in the dirt.

So here's to my dirty blonde, curly-haired boy,
Who filled my world with joy and coy,
Though we may never be, in my heart you'll always stay,
Forever and always, my love will never sway.
