thunder clashed. rain poured. dolores continued to cover her ears, as did sól. the wavy-haired tapped carlos for reassurance, but the family freezed in their spot. sól, the one girl considered to be a curse to this family had a gift?!
"how did this happen?!" abuela alma exclaimed, fury in her very eyes. carlos bit his cheek, grabbing sól's shoulder. "the night i asked her for bethrotal." (name) felt like she was going to faint. she has never had this many surprises in one night.

(name) sat on the edge of camilo's bed, looking at old family photos her mamí pepa gave her to look at. she waited for camilo to finish with his shower, so she sketched and continued observing the photos in her hands.
the door creaked open, camilo entered with his hair drenched and was wearing a yellow shirt and some shorts for bed - instead of his usual ruana and brown pants. "oh, you still looking at those?" he asked.
(name) hummed an 'mhm,' not taking her eyes off once. upon flipping across pictures, she saw a picture of camilo and carlos. they were younger and stood infront of casita with awkward smiles.
the girl giggled to herself. camilo rose a brow as he put his clothes away. "what are you looking at?" he let out a sheepish laugh, scooting beside her. "oh, that picture. yeah, my front teeth had just gotten out that day." he laughed loudly.
(name) mirrored his laugh. "i still don't get how sól has a gift.." camilo grew silent to think about his thoughts.
"you think i'll get a gift amor?" camilo shot his eyes wide.
"i hope you don't." (name) was taken aback. "not- not in a bad way." camilo shook his hands infront of her, noticing her shift in expression. "i just don't want you to go through the same things i did growing up." it was understandable. (name) slowly nodded her head.
"only time will tell." (name) shrugged her shoulders again. "i have to get home." camilo frowned, "okay.." he gave her a peck before letting her go. "love you!" he yelled. (name) giggled, "love you too."

(mother's name) shook (name) awake. "mija, wake up. abuela's calling you over to casita." (name), half awake furrowed her brows. "abuela alma? why would she be calling me?" she questioned. maybe it was something super serious.
"she said it's a family emergency." her mamá smiled. "wow. i'm considered family now?" (name) joked, her mamá laughed. "drink water, okay? i'll see you later." her mamá currently wore her uniform for the bakery, assuming that she probably had to leave for work.
(name)'s lips curved into an 'o.' "okay má, later!" (name) sat up to embrace her mamá. as soon as (mother's name) left, she quickly got ready to leave for casita.
it was pretty late in the morning now, so most of the madrigal family were gone to do chores, including (name)'s novio. upon seeing (name), sól beamed. "(name)!" sól greeted with a wave.
(name) enthusiastically waved at sól. besides sól, was mariano, isabela's girlfriend, lilian, and luisa's partner, river, and of course, tia feather. was there a reason for all the madrigal in-laws to be here? honestly, tio agustin and papí felíx as well stood by the side, relaxing on some chairs.
"what.. is going on?" she rose a brow. they stood in a line, totally proper and straightened backs. "hola mija." papí felíx greeted. "hola." she waved.
abuela alma cleared her throat, she stood behind the line. the group moved out of her way for her to move forward to (name). "good to know that everyone is here. stand beside mariano please, (name)." (name) obediently ran in-between mariano and sól.
