"It's just a light kiss and then you turn and leave."

Jeff listens intently to the instructions. It's the last scene of the day and they remain attentive to what the director says to them while his makeup is retouched. Barcode, not far from where he is, also pays attention as a member of the staff fixes his hair.

When the people around them move away, they get closer. The set is still being organized in its last details.

"Are you ready?" Jeff asks quietly.

"Ready." Barcode nods.

For a moment Jeff thinks he sees Barcode's eyes drop from his eyes to his mouth. The truth is, they haven't had time to talk about the night before since morning.

When Jeff woke up — before the alarm clock and Barcode — the boy was still in his bed, but sleeping heavily and on his stomach, as usual. He did his best not to wake him as he got out of bed and went to get ready for the day. He was still in the bathroom when he heard his cell phone alarm go off and as Jeff left the bathroom, they exchanged a quick good morning and only a few words before Barcode went to his morning routine as well.

At breakfast they were joined by other people from the team, which meant that even though they were sitting close together, they couldn't really talk. But at least Barcode looked okay, a little more relaxed, which comforts Jeff.

"I thought it was going to be a real kiss." Barcode wakes him from his reverie.

Jeff looks at him and raises his eyebrows, but then chuckles slightly when he understands what he means.

"I'm an alien, a real kiss still seems a little scary." He says playfully.

Barcode chuckles lightly as he nods in agreement.

"Good thing Phi isn't a real alien, then." He drops the comment and walks away as the director calls him to his position.

Jeff stares at his back, with a slight shiver bothering the back of his neck, but soon he is also called to take his place.

He takes a few deep breaths before they start shooting. And it takes one, two... five takes until the director is satisfied with the scene, which means kissing Barcode all of five times. He definitely doesn't seem bothered, which makes Jeff a little more relaxed about it, but the earlier comment is still echoing in the back of his mind.

Once again they celebrate the end of another intense day of shooting. The actors, as always, are the first ones to be released and it's still in the van that Jeff's cell phone vibrates. It's a text from Barcode, who's sitting on the seat in front of him, his back facing Jeff.

Barcode

"Can I ask you something?"

Jeff gulps, looking up and staring at the back of his head that he can see from where he is. Deep down, he knows exactly what this is all about.

Jeff

"Sure. What is it?"

Barcode

"I want another kiss."

Bingo.

Once again a shiver runs through the back of his neck as Jeff looks out the window. And this time the shiver is accompanied by butterflies in his stomach when Jeff allows himself to think about how good the kiss was. The expectation wasn't very high, it was Barcode's first kiss after all, but suddenly Jeff found himself thinking that he didn't want to stop. And he probably wouldn't have in any other time, in another context or with another person. But Barcode is the owner of that mouth.
