Jeff wakes up with a start when he thinks he heard something. His eyes immediately find Barcode sleeping beside him, but he seems to be in a deep sleep. Only then does he turn to face him on the bed in an attempt to go back to sleep, but ends up spending some time watching him.

When Jeff got out of the shower earlier, he found Barcode already sleeping, lost in exhaustion. Deciding not to wake him, he only made sure to carefully clean up the mess they had made and covered him under the duvet. The younger man definitely didn't mind, as he just moved in search of the best position to continue sleeping, so Jeff took the place next to him and soon fell asleep too.

With a deep sigh, Jeff closes his eyes again and settles his head on the pillow without worrying about waking up early. The next day they will only leave later, as they will shoot scenes during the night.

"No."

Barcode lets out in a mumble that makes Jeff open his eyes again. He breathes a little differently from the calm he appeared to be in a few minutes ago.

"I don't..." He mutters again.

Jeff props himself up on one elbow and looks at him a little more closely. He caresses Barcode's arm.

"Code." Jeff calls softly, trying to wake him from what seems to be a nightmare.

"P'Jeff." He answers right away, but still seems completely asleep. "I don't—I don't want to."

When he hears what he mumbles even in a dream, Jeff pulls his hand right away. His stomach churns at the same time and he just watches the other sleep, frozen. Barcode frowns, looking bothered somehow, and mutters a few more things the older man can't understand.

"Barcode." He calls softly again, but this time he doesn't touch him.

"I don't want to."

The clearly spoken words make him move further away from Barcode. He quickly replays the entire night in his head, reassuring himself that they didn't do anything that wasn't consented to, all while still watching Barcode's sleeping face and convincing himself that he'd say if he was uncomfortable about something.

Right?

Not really.

The spiral of bad thoughts drags him down in such a way that it takes away all his sleep. Jeff gets up in silence and goes to the bathroom, still under the younger man's mumbling. He stays there for he doesn't know how long, but little by little he starts to organize things in his head.

At least that's what he thinks he's doing.

Where did this crazy idea of offering to be his first kiss come from? And conceding to continue with this was so irresponsible that Jeff is ashamed to even face his own reflection in the mirror. Because of course Barcode would agree to this, with the power of his hormones and the intimacy they already had...

Jeff decides to go back to the room only when tiredness speaks louder than all those thoughts, but when approaching Barcode sleeping, for the first time in days Jeff decides to go to the other bed. It's almost too cold for his liking, but lying down on it somehow helps, at least a little, with the churning in his stomach.

When he seems to have just fallen asleep, Jeff wakes up startled the next morning, just like a few hours ago, but the noise this time comes from Barcode standing next to the bed, looking at him with a guilty face.

"Sorry Phi." He has the sheets balled up in his hands and throws them in the corner of the room. "I didn't want to wake you up." He explains as he bends down to pick up his phone from the floor.

Jeff closes his eyes again and relaxes, adjusting his head into the pillow. And only for a moment, before memories of Barcode muttering those things in his sleep come back. When he opens his eyes he realizes that Barcode has already taken a shower and is looking for something to wear. He looks back over his shoulder at Jeff and smiles slightly.
