The Fish

A fish doesn't scream when you remove it from the water.

Out of their intended element,

they will open and close their mouth in an effort of self-preservation:

searching for air to breathe,

completely surrounded by it,

but unable to process it.

Their eyes will gloss over as their life is stolen from them.

Take the hook out,

forget about the bleeding wound in their lip,

or how much the salt water will sting,

or the permanent scar,

and throw it back in.

Hope the fish has enough consciousness to save itself and remember how to swim.

Don't think about what happened again.

The future of this fish doesn't matter, right?

Not if this was all for fun?

You enjoyed yourself,

so, the fish had to have too.

A fish doesn't scream, but its body convulses.

The fish will flop on the floor,

swinging its tail left to right in the grasp of a hand.

Some will send up spiked fins in an effort of self-defense.

Others may become paralyzed with fear.

When you take advantage of a girl

she may be unable to say a thing

but her body language will tell you

everything.
