"Well, this is a surprise," your mom says as she opens the door to Stacy, Nancy and Steve. "Y/N's not really feel well..."

"We know!" Stacy said. "That's why we thought she could use some company..." she reached into her book bag. "And some chicken soup!"

"And Seventeen magazine!" Nancy adds, making a copy dance in her hands

"And the good stuff," Steve smiles that million0dollar smile, the wholesome one that even moms will go for, as he pulls Dimetapp from behind his back

Your mom puts a hand on her chest at the thoughtfulness of the gesture. "That's so sweet, kids. Y/N is lucky to have friends like you all. Come in, come in. She's upstairs in her room," she steps to the side, motioning with her hand.

They all go up the stairs slowly, Stacy leading the way, bringing them just outside her room. They all exchanged looks before Stacy slowly turned the knob to open your bedroom door.

You hear your door start to creek open and you start pulling the covers over your head, "Mom, I'm really not in the mood right now."

"Hey... Y/N," Stacy says, weaker than she intended.

You rip the sheets off your head and sit up. You look like shit. Your hair is a mess and your face is puffy from crying. "Stacy..."

"Y/N..." Stacy steps forward, putting her hands in front of her in a gesture of what looks like apology, unsure what to say or where to even begin. You can see her lip quivering, her eyes look desperate. As close as you are, you almost never see her like this: vulnerable.
