As the clock struck midnight, casting an eerie glow on the quiet streets, i found myself at the end of another long day. My tired eyes gazed at the hands of the clock, wiling them to move faster. I had just finished my shift at the small convenience store near my house, where time seemed to stretch indefinitely during those late evening hours. The rhythmic hum of the fluorescent lights buzzed softly, casting an artificial glow on the aisles of neatly stacked shelves.

I made sure all the lights were off and looked the door on my way out. Stepping outside, I was greeted by a gust of chilled air that wrapped around me like a thin veil. It was late in the evening, and the world outside had grown still and serene. The atmosphere, infused with the crispness of the night, seemed to invigorate my weary soul. Any hint of tiredness I had felt during my shift quickly dissipated, replaced by a renewed sense of energy.

As I started walking to get back home, the cold air pricked at my cheeks, creating a rosy flush. The sounds of my footsteps echoed in the silent streets, filling the night with a soothing rhythm. Above me, the ink-black canvas of the sky unfurled, adorned with an enchanting tapestry of the stars. It was a rare sight; we usually can't see the stars that well. Maybe tonight was a special night, but aren't all nights special?

I think they are; it only depends on how you see it.

The stars shimmered like tiny diamonds, casting their ethereal glow upon the world below. They seemed to ignite the heavens, creating a celestial spectacle that captivated my gaze.

With each step, the stars whispered their secrets, filling my heart with a sense of wonder. Their distant light beckoned me to dream, to believe in possibilities beyond the confines of my mundane routine. I paused for a moment, tilting my head back to drink in the beauty above. The quietude of the night enveloped me, and for that brief moment, the weight of the world lifted from my shoulders.

A smile curled on my lips as I resumed my journey. The night may have been cold, but the stars and the exhilaration of the late hour warmed me from within. I knew that even amidst the darkness, there was always a flicker of light, a glimmer of hope.

But it was not always like this. The night wasn't always as peaceful. For so long people feared being outside, but that was all before him.

He had a gift. He possessed a spirited and quick-witted nature, with a knack for humorous banter that served as both a defense mechanism and a means to connect with others. He had a genuine and compassionate heart, always striving to help those in need, even at great personal risk. He exuded a sense of responsibility, driven by an unwavering moral compass that guides his actions.

He was a hero. He gave us hope. His heroic behaviour was marked by his agility and grace. With unwavering determination, he pushed himself to the limit in order to protect innocent lives. He never gave up. He fought for what he felt was right. His acts of selflessness inspired hope in others, reminding us all that even ordinary individuals can rise above their circumstances to make a profound difference. Whether swinging through the city or lending a helping hand to those in need, his actions embodied the true essence of heroism, leaving an indelible mark on the lives he touched.

He kept his identity hidden, to protect himself, to make sure his loved ones wouldn't be in danger... or at least he tried to, but when it comes to a relationship, whoever you are, it needs to be built on trust.

Even if you're the one and only Spider-Man.

So that's what he did, he told his partner. He told me.

Ma Neteyam told me.

Although the whole idea that I might lose him one night because he took too many punches, or because he made the wrong move made me nervous, I couldn't do anything to stop him. He was a hero with a big heart, I could never stop him from following his heart. Neteyam gave hope and joy to the neighbourhood.
