Mirabelle's POV: As I came back to see my friends looking for me around the entrance, I ran into their arms. Everything came out at once. Kai stopped me, saying, Hold up, slow down, elves, a shadow person, what? Gaia emerged from the depths of my gemstone, her presence a cool, steady current in the tempest of emotions that engulfed me as I returned to my friends. Kai stopped me, saying, "Hold up, slow down, elves, a shadow person, what?" It was then that I noticed a small, translucent figure standing beside them, her presence somehow managing to eclipse theirs. "Allow me to introduce Gaia," she said, her voice soft.

I thought about the adventures that awaited me in the outside world. I had been chosen to leave the sanctuary of the forest and embark on a quest. They had never seen a human with such an intimate connection to a Tuatha de Danann.

I'd never seen her like this before. She seemed serious and harsher. Gaia concurred with a nod. Everyone appeared to lose their wind, but I knew Kai was only attempting to protect me. I encircled her, grateful for her friendship and loyalty. "Thank you, Kai," I said quietly, barely audible over the clamor of the crowd. "However, I have faith in Gaia." I know she doesn't mean any harm to us."

As for you, Kai, I understand why you're skeptical, but give me a chance to show you who I am. I know about the history between humans and the other races. It's part of why I'm here. I'm not here to take over; I'm here to help. I will do everything in my power to protect this realm and its people, including those who have wronged it in the past. That doesn't mean I'll forget or forgive everything, but it does mean that I'm willing to try and understand. And if you ever need proof of that, you have only to ask."

Finn was curious about what was going on in the community. The elves were rejoicing in their win. Harp music was playing as people danced around the fire. He stood up from the log we were sitting on and said, "It looks like fun." "I'd like to join in," I said, gesturing to the celebration.

I sat next to the elder, sitting in her cottage, writing something on a leaf. She was writing on a quill, "What are you writing?" She looks up at me and says, "Just a letter to the other elf species in Fantasia to tell them your friends are here." She smiled. "They've been looking for someone like you, you know."

She put the letter in the envelope and, walking up to an archer, waited for a bird to come by. It flew away with the letters. The bird seemed to know exactly where to go, as if it was guided by some unseen force. As she watched the bird disappear into the distance, she felt a sense of relief wash over her. She had done what she needed to do.

Walking back, I asked her about the other elf species. Elder waited until all four of us were there; she asked Kai and Jack to join them in the fireplace. "There were eight of her elves here in Fantasia; each of them had their own role in keeping our world safe. Sky, Ocean, Fire, and Forest, which are what my elves are—Earth, Moon, and Animal—and not all of them will respond well toward humans." Her voice trailed off as she seemed to think of something else. "

She explained, "The magic in their world had to be poured into their charm; the forest elves had to rely on the tree to power up their magic. They each have wings, but they only sprout up when they have enough powers. Fairies are a species of elves."

"So, what happened?" Jack prodded, feeling more than a little intrigued. She smiled at his eagerness and continued, "Well, the tree was becoming increasingly unstable. The magic had been flowing in and out of it for centuries, and it was beginning to weaken. The elves knew they had to find a new source of power, but they had no idea where to look. Then, one day, a group of fairies discovered a hidden spring deep in the heart of the forest. It was filled with a strange, glowing energy. They brought the news back to the elves, and together, they decided to investigate further."
