CUT TO: DOWNTOWN DISTRICT

EXT. UNION STATION LOFT - AFTERNOON

TO̅MI AND DRAY SIT TOGETHER IN THE UNION STATION LOFT EATING PURPLE COW MILKSHAKES.

[To̅mi]

Okay, it's official. That aftertaste really ruins the shake for me.

[Dray]

Maybe it's something that you get used to.

[To̅mi]

It would be a slight torture to get used to something like that.

TO̅MI TAKES ANOTHER SWIG OF THE MILKSHAKE AND SITS IT DOWN ON THE BENCH.

[To̅mi]

Nope, can't do it.

[Dray]

Hey, I've got a question but I'm not really entirely sure how to ask it.

[To̅mi]

I might have an answer.

[Dray]

...Your dad's a full-fledged vampire, right?

[To̅mi]

Yeah.

[Dray]

So, he would get burned by the sunlight right?

[To̅mi]

Oh, I know where this might be going but go ahead.

[Dray]

How come you don't get burned by the sunlight?

[To̅mi]

So, half-vampires are often weakened by the sunlight over long periods of time. It helps that I'm not constantly outside. If I was just out in the sun all day, I would need to find shade for a long period of time to get my strength back.

[Dray]

And you don't need blood all the time to survive.

[To̅mi]

Nope. After a fight or long exposure to blood, it helps if I have a drink. Brings me back to my senses.

[Dray]

I know you can fly. Can you turn into mist?

TO̅MI LOOKS AT DRAY WITH A PUZZLED EXPRESSION.

[To̅mi]

What? I think you might have been watching too many movies.

DRAY LOOKS AT TO̅MI WITH A PERPLEXED EXPRESSION AND TO̅MI LOOKS AT DRAY WITH A SHOCKED EXPRESSION.

[Dray]

Your dad did it.

[To̅mi]

He what?!

[Dray]

You didn't know?

[To̅mi]

That liar! He said that he couldn't turn into mist. I can't believe this.

[Dray]

...How long do you think you'll live?

[To̅mi]

I dunno. My dad estimates that I could live until the world doesn't exist anymore. Just like him and Mom.

[Dray]

Wow. Damn. I'll be dust by then.

TO̅MI NUDGES DRAY WITH A SERIOUS-HURT EXPRESSION.
