Live. Laugh. Love

Czarina's PoV:

"Okay girls, next practice at three o'clock tomorrow. Oh and please be early." I said as I made my way over to my gym bag. I could see my best friend waiting patiently for me on the bleachers. I waved at her, telling her I'd be there soon. She pointed at her watch dramatically, and I couldn't help but laugh.

"Hey there, gorgeous." I turned to see my boyfriend walking towards me with a big smile on his face. He was soon face to face with me, giving me a sloppy kiss on the mouth.

"Flint, people are watching." I said with a giggle. Flint shrugged his shoulders, a habit he possessed when he didn't care, and grabbed my gym bag from me.

"Come on, I want to go try out that new bar in the city. They open at four thirty, and it's already four o'clock." He said as he walked ahead of me.

"Flint, I can't go. I have to meet up with Vivian, we're going shopping today for my moms birthday." I said in a disappointed tone.

"Is that today? Crap, I forgot. Tell her happy birthday for me." He said, not hearing what I just said.

"Flint did you hear what I just said? Vivian and I are going-"

"I know, I know. It's cool. I'll just go with the boys then." He said, handing me my gym bag.

"Okay... Well, I'll call you?"

"Sure." He said, turning to leave. I sighed and headed the opposite way to my best friend.

"Sorry, you ready?" I asked her, even though I knew the answer. She gave me a look that said, 'really?'

"Anyways, what exactly did lover boy want from you this time?" She asked with attitude.

"Be nice, and he wanted me to check out this new place that just opened in the city." I told her, as she reversed out of the parking space.

"Let me guess, a bar. I swear Czarina, I don't know why you put up with the guy. He's not even boyfriend material." She said as we were now on the road. Vivien and Flint never got along. They hated each other and the two couldn't stay in the same room together for just a minute. It really bothered me that my best friend and boyfriend hated each other.

I sighed dramatically, "Are we really doing this?" I asked with an eye roll. She ignored me and decided to turn on the radio.

Minutes later, we were parked in front of target ready to look for a present for my mothers birthday. We walked right inside and contemplated which isles we were going to parade through.

"Do you even know what you want to get your mom? If not, I made a cool list of things she might like." My best friend said, taking what looks like a piece of paper out of her Jean pocket.

"You're the best." I said as she handed me the list. She really was, and I adored her for that.

"Ok, let's see. We got..... A new watch. Cooking set.... Hmmm, a new laptop sounds very promising and very expensive." I said, looking over the piece of paper.

"I knew you would say that. So, that's why I brought some of my allowance so we wouldn't have to worry about any expenses. Go on, tell me I'm wonderful." She said as she patted her chest. I couldn't help but laugh at her over dramatic scene.

"Yes, you are. But there is no way I'm using your college fee, not to mention the fact that you worked your butt off for it, just to buy a laptop." I said, chuckling.

"It's not my college fee, that's been gone. Besides my dad said he could pay for that. And don't tell me what to do with my money missy. It's all on credit card, so we're getting the laptop. Any questions?" She asked. I shook my head with a smile.

Fifteen minutes later, and we had a blue Mac book wrapped in blue wrapping paper inside a gift bag. I don't know why we even bought the gift bag, we already paid enough for the Mac book. I sure hoped she knew how to use it. We arrived at my house in twenty minutes and made our way into the house.

"Hey girls." Greeted my dad. He was in the kitchen making dinner. Odd as it sounds, my dad is actually the cook around here. Mom however, cannot cook to save her family. But she was a hell of a mother, and that counted as a lot. And plus, today was her birthday so she shouldn't be cooking.

"Hey dad, mom home?" I asked, gift bag behind my back.

"Hey Mr. Bernards." Greeted Vivien. He smiled and waved at her before answering my question.

"Nope, went out to the spa with her girlfriends. Should be back by five o'clock." He said, going back to the stove. It smelt heavenly in here.

"Oh great." I said as I place the gift bag onto the island. I sat down next to Vivien on the wooden stool.

"What's that?" My dad asked curiously.

"It's a present for your wife." Vivien said grinning. She knew my dad would lose his hair if he knew what was inside.

"It's a Mac book dad." I said laughing.

As expected, he dropped the stirring spoon and rushed over to us. "A Mac book? You got your mother a Mac book?!" He exclaimed with shocking eyes.

"Dad, relax. And no I didn't bought it, Vivien here did." I said, happy he couldn't yell at me now.

Dad turned to Vivien with the same expression. "You bought this?!" He asked, nodding towards the expensive gift. Vivien nodded.

"Well how come you never bought me a gift like this one? All I ever get were ties and cooking utensils -which I'm totally grateful for." He said, picking the spoon off the ground and washing it off.

"I'm sorry Mr. Bernards, but your wife really could use a new laptop. Have you seen the current one? It's illegal to still have something like that still alive." She said, earning a laugh from both my dad and I.

"You're very right. She's going to absolutely love this present. Thanks girls." He said as he turned the oven off.

"So, what did you get her?" I asked as I licked my lips as he placed the chicken lasagna on the island in front of us.

"Well, she and I are spending the week in Bora Bora. Like a romantic getaway. If anything, we need it." He said, grabbing three plates.

"You guys are leaving me, how mean." I said, but not at all bothered by it. Mom and dad always spent time together at hotels. I would sleep over at Vivian's or she would stay at mines.

"Oh you'll be fine. You're a smart girl and plus you got another smart headed friend. Am I right Vivian?" He asked with a quirk eyebrow.

"Oh definitely! She can stay at my house, or I'll stay at hers. Either way is fine for me." She said, devouring her food the minute my dad placed her lasagna in front of her. I too, did the the same.

We continued to make jokes before it got late. We decided that it was time to get ready for the party, since the house was beginning to get crowded with old friends and families. As the party went on, I learned that mom really loved her gift and couldn't stop showing it around to people. I'm sure they had already seen it. Overall, the night was beautiful, I just didn't know that the following days would change my life.
