"I thought you have fever" sabi niya at umiwas ng tingin sa akin. "Okay ka lang talaga?"

"I'm fine, really," I assured him, trying to hide my nervousness. "Maybe just a bit tired from the long day."

Before Rion could respond, Lucian's voice cut through the moment, his tone laced with jealousy. "You are in the middle of this mission, flirting is strictly not allowed," he said firmly, eyeing us both.

Rion raised an eyebrow, taken aback by Lucian's remark. "There's no flirting going on, governor" he retorted, his voice firm. "I was just checking if she's feeling okay."

As we arrived at the restaurant, the atmosphere was filled with a mix of exhaustion and satisfaction. The day had been long, but the impact we had made on people's lives made it all worthwhile. We exchanged stories and experiences, bonding over our shared passion for helping others.

I noticed Lucian signaling for me to come over to where he was sitting, and my heart skipped a beat. I approached him, trying to ignore the rapid pace of my heartbeat. He gestured for me to sit beside him, and I complied, feeling a mixture of nervousness and curiosity.

"Are you really okay?" he asked, his voice softer now, devoid of the earlier jealousy.

"I am," I replied, my gaze meeting his. "It's been a long day, but I'm fine."

"How are you, Sonne?" Lucian asked, his voice gentle as he searched my eyes for any hidden emotions.

For a moment, a heavy silence settled between us. I could see the concern in his eyes, and it reminded me of the deep connection we once shared. Despite the passing of time, there were still moments when it felt like no time had passed at all.

"I'm doing okay," I finally answered, trying to maintain a sense of composure. "The medical mission has been fulfilling, but it's also been emotionally draining."

"My question is not about the medical mission, Schatje," Lucian said softly, using the endearing term he used to call me. "I mean, how's your life? Are you happy that we broke up? Or are we really over? We didn't have an exact conversation, Honey."

His words caught me off guard, and I felt a rush of emotions flooding back. It had been difficult to talk about our breakup directly, and we had both avoided confronting the lingering feelings from the past.

"I-I'm okay," I finally managed to answer, my voice slightly trembling. Lucian's question had stirred up a whirlwind of emotions inside me, and I struggled to find the right words. "It's just that... our breakup was difficult, and I thought it was the best decision at that time."
