The ride to the hangar was quiet. The flight was awkward. The ride from the airport to his apartment in Milan was even more quiet.

Sion had left us to go home to his place, and that was when the silence hit. Karrion casually made his way to his home office and shut the door. I had really fucked up this time. That night, I showered and recovered from the hectic day by just laying in bed. I tried to push everything out of my mind, but it wasn't working.

Hours later, he had still not come to bed. I battled with myself for minutes before coming to a conclusion. I was going to meet him. I got out of bed and marched to the office. Ironically, the doors were locked.

"Karrion, I know you're in there and that you can hear me. Open the door." He didn't. He wasn't going to take orders from me. I sighed and went back to the room. I went to one of my bags and took out my gun. If he wasn't going to open the doors, I would blow his locks out.

I walked back to the office door and tried again. "Karrion, I just want to talk. Please open the door." Still nothing. "Oh well, I tried."

I moved back, pulled the trigger, and then kicked in the door. As the door gave way, I saw him seated at his table, staring at me.

"Normally, when people lock themselves in a room, they don't want to be disturbed." He said as he sipped his drink.

"Normally, when people are angry at someone, they say it." He just looked at me and smiled. "Why are you smiling?"

"The irony." Sarcasm? Really? "You're angry at me because you think I'm angry at you for not listening to me because you were angry at me for not telling you where Leo was. I don't think you get to play the communication card."

"I'm not trying to play any card. Karrion, I'm sorry. That's all I can say!"

"Well it's not enough! I lost men today! Fathers, husbands, brothers and sons! My men know that there's always the possibility of death. But they also know that I would NEVER take them down that road if there was an alternative option. But you...the alternative was leaving you behind."

"Karrion..."

"I sacrificed those men to get you out. But you...you see your ex and you start acting up."

"It's not that."

"Let me ask you a question; me or him?" The question took me aback.

"What?"

"Me or him? You can't have it both ways."

"Why is this even a question?"

"Answer the fucking question!"

"You! I have always chosen you, I'm still choosing you, and I will always choose you!" He got up and walked to me. His hands caught me as I was about to fall.

"Choosing me is not just about saying it. You have to show it. You have to let me lead, even when you're blind."

"I know."

"Ok." He wrapped his arms around me and I cried on him. "I love you."

"I love you too." We stayed that way for minutes, and then he finally pulled away.

"You should get to bed. I still have some work to do." I didn't want to leave him.

"But I want to stay with you." He laughed and walked back to the table.

"I need to work. I'll be in bed by the time you wake up."

"Promise?"

"I promise." I nodded and walked back to the room. It didn't take me long to drift off and fall asleep.

I woke up the next morning by 7am. Karrion stayed true to his promise, and was laying in bed when I woke up. I got out of bed, and changed into a workout fit. I didn't want to leave the building, so I just used the building's gym. I had been working out for about an hour when my phone rang.

"Hello?"

"Sophie, it's been a while."

"Who am I speaking with?"

"Don't tell me you've gone so deep undercover that you've forgotten your handler."

"I think you might have the wrong number."

"Do I? I wonder if Karrion would also think that." I sighed tiredly.

"What do you want Mason?"

"Ahhh, you remembered."

"What do you want?"

"A meeting. Come to your office in an hour, and we'll talk." He ended the call and left me standing there. Shit!

I got back to the apartment and headed into the bathroom. I took a quick shower and got dressed. I was just about leaving when Karrion woke up.

"Heading somewhere?" I turned and saw him looking at me from the bed.

"I got a call and I need to head to the office. Something urgent."

"And you were just going to leave?"

"You stayed up so late last night. I didn't want to disturb you."

"Mmmm." He looked at me like he knew. "Take my driver. He'll get you to the office and back."

"Ok. Bye baby." I ran out of the bedroom, and then out of the apartment.

When I walked into the office, you could see the shock on everyone's face. They hadn't seen me in ages!

I flew past my secretary and entered the office. He was seated there in his usual black jean and leather jacket ensemble.

"This had better be important Mason." I said as I dropped my bag on the table and sat down. He took in my whole look and smiled.

"Karrion really doesn't let you lift a finger, does he?"

"What is it that you want?

"You have missed all check-ins for the past four months."

"I don't work for The Organisation anymore. I'm not on a mission with them, so why would I need to check-in?" He laughed and then nodded.

"Where Leonardo De Lucci?"

"I can't say that I know."

"He was last seeing leaving the Mafia Ball with you. Nobody has seen him since."

"Well, Leo has never been one to disclose his movements to me."

"You fled to Switzerland merely two weeks after he vanished."

"Fled?" I asked laughing. "No, I took a trip. And enjoyed a lovely stay there. You should try it. It might help with those eye bags."

"On the day that Organisation's agents were sent to bring you in, you fled to Russia."

"You and this word! I didn't flee to anywhere. I took trips. And I don't remember getting an email from The Organisation mentioning anything about sending agents to come bring me in. If I had, I would've moved my trip to Russia." He wasn't going to get anywhere with me.

"Why haven't you checked in at The Organisation?"

"I don't work there anymore. I would say that you could ask Leo, but he's apparently missing."

"Sophie, you're making this harder than it needs to be."

"Mason, this doesn't need to be anything at all. I don't know where Leo is. I didn't flee from Italy...and even if I wanted to, I wouldn't have waited for two whole weeks before leaving. And Russia just happened to be lovely around that time of the year."

He knew that I wasn't going to say anything else. "Karrion. You do realise that you are breaking a million moral codes by being with him."

"My morals, my codes. Karrion is no longer a name on my mission brief. When you do get back to The Organisation, tell them that I haven't forgotten their silence on what happened between Leo and Franco. They'll all pay."

"An empty threat? That's what you're sending me back with?"

"No. I'm sending you back with a full and heavy guarantee."
