ARABELLA

There's a horror expression on their faces. Looking at Luca. The man watches me. From toe to head.

Fuck off.

"Compromising position" he huffs the words.

Not at all I am doing any harm to Luca's reputation or anything. How is that a compromising situation? Did he get hit in his bald head recently or what?

"If you're man enough, stop using your euphemistic expression and say what you do mean clearly." I hiss. An immense dreadful short scream comes from behind him where they're all standing. Renzo is biting on his nails standing there.

Why does it seem like they're all sweating?

His eyebrows furrow and he growls, "Stupid girl! Don't you know who your boss is?"

Fantino tries to say something to me but I bite out, "Nobody is, and nobody would ever be my fucking boss. I'm self-employed and don't need to lick your boots to earn a living"

He raises his voice as anger in his voice increases, "Mind your language, ill-mannered lady, you're just a random who-"

"You mind your language. I'm very well-spoken and well mannered but that doesn't mean you'll talk shit about me right in front of me and-"

"Ara, go to your room" Luca steps in between our arguments.

"Yes, Ara, Leah was looking for you. Go" Julian tells. Liar. Leah isn't even here today.

"He was literally about to call me a random whore" I shout frustrated.

The old man scoffs, "I can buy you in a second and do whatever I want with you. Keep-" as he speaks utter bullshit, another muffled scream comes from back.

"Romano!" Luca's voice this time reaches every room of this building, yes it was that loud.

He speaks further, calmly, with his jaws clenched, "Please wait for me downstairs, I'll be there soon."

Fantino and Renzo take that old corpse away from this room. But Luca doesn't even flinch from his position. I watch him staring at the floor without even blinking.

Is this frustration inside him for me? I didn't do anything wrong. I purse my lips in a thin layer.

He passed by all of us with cold feet and left the room.

"Don't worry he will handle it" Julian confronts me.

"Did I mess it up for him? Does he blame me?" I barely let out these words.

"I don't think so, Arabella. It must have... been hard for him to hear all that about you" Gabriel tells.

I was so freaked out of my bones when I walk towards the kitchen from my room to have a coffee, five minutes later of staying there. I yelled a thousand curses at him, enough to even sting his dead ancestors' ears.

I find Kehlani in the kitchen, making coffee. "Hi" I say when I see her waving her hands towards me. She hurriedly tamped the coffee and inserted it into the slot, then let the machine do its magic.

Not knowing where to turn my eyes, I accidentally glanced at her arm that's bleeding right now. "What happened to your arm? How did you get that cut?" I hold the wounded wrist and try to stay calm, "Come here I'll stop the blee-" she stops me by pointing at the coffee. "It is not important!"

The way she's freaking over it, I guess it is important. Of course, there's a guest here.

I shake my head, "You're just... not going to work with that arm"

I peek outside, and look at their gathering in the hall. I was successful in calling Gabriel to the kitchen. "She's bleeding," I tell. The floor is slowly becoming a red pool.

"I don't know how to make the coffee, you need to take her place. I'll get her arm checked" he tells.

"Can we just stop with this fucking coffee? She's fucking bleeding!" I blurt.

Flicking back to the coffee machine, I watched as the
color changed from a golden dark brown to light gold. Very well, now I'm having to serve coffee to that bastard. Because without coffee every person in this house would die. Ridiculous.

I took the purified coffee and poured milk into it. Can't I just make a pig's face as the coffee art here?

I peek again at them to see if I can call anyone to take the damn coffee from here. But I got no attention this time.

I dial Fantino's number. He's not picking it up. I dial Julian's and Renzo's as well. But seems like all of them are ignoring me hard. I finally dial Luca's.

His phone is on silent right now. GOD. I'll have to go there myself.

I put the two coffee cups in a tray and pick it up. I begin to walk towards them. All their eyes are about to bulge out of their sockets. Julian shakes his head. Too late.

Luca gives me a stern look. Oh man. I offer Luca a cup of coffee and he points at the table. I roll my eyes and put it there.

"Finally back to your level" the old man speaks with an ugly smirk on his lips.

I was about to present the whole cup to him, but, oh hell, how did my coffee end up on his pants? And why is there a dark stain on his groin area?

There was a growl from Romano like a beast had been unleashed from his chest, followed by the rush of his feet after he stands up instantly. I am in a flustered state, too, because my knees had buckled and I'd thrown the entire cup of coffee at Romano.

Believe me. Although all those disputes frustrated me more than I've ever been, I didn't have any intention of burning his groin area with the scalding hot coffee.

The room's environment clashes with the tension, and I can practically taste the fear in the air. And then, in the blink of an eye, Romano's voice booms like thunder.

Before any words are spoken, before I could even gasp, and ask for the forgiveness that I genuinely feel, his gun is pointed at me. A gunshot shatters the air. I feel a jolt of fear slice through me.

Time seems to stretch as the bullet whizzes past me, narrowly missing its mark. In a flurry of movement, Luca is here. He moves with a swiftness knocking Romano's hand and changing the direction of the shot.

Luca's fist then collides with his face, a punch fueled by an intensity that I never thought could emerge in him for Romano.

I gasp, my hand instinctively covering my mouth in shock. Romano staggers back, his face etched with disappointment and shock, with a bleeding nose.

Romano's roar of frustration fills the environment, the sound of it like thunder in my ears.

My heart races, and I am frozen in place, trying to process the near miss. I almost got shot.

As the tension mounts, Luca's voice was a plea, showing his instant regret, "I- I'm sorry. Forgive her she doesn't know who you are."

Romano laughs bitterly, his grip on control slipping through his fingers. In the very next moment, Romano's face is contorting with fury, "You dare raise a hand against me, boy?"

I can't tear my gaze away from the two of them. I can't believe myself, I have caused it all and put Luca in this situation. He seems like he is ready to snap at any moment.
