YURI WHITE
DALLAS, TX

SEPTEMBER 23, 2021

YURI sat at the table with her friends as they indulged in a conversation. Yuri was in her head while sipping on her mimosa. It's been two weeks since she and Mazi broke up, and she would say she'd been handling it well.

If it were up to her, she'd be up under her blanket, either crying her eyes out or sleeping but her friends couldn't let her so today they dragged her out of her house bringing her to brunch.

Yuri felt a tap on her shoulder  breaking her away from her thoughts. She looked away from the table and looked at Brooklyn.

"You alright, boo?" Brooklyn asked, and Yuri nodded her head. "You ever found the bitch he cheated with? She probably ugly." Rhylee found herself asking.

"I never did it, but I thought about it." Yuri spoke up, drinking the rest of her mimosa. She sat the glass down, and Rhylee looked at her.

"You want me to find her? Just say the word, cause you know I'll find her." Rhylee said, raising her eyebrow. Yuri believed her too; Rhylee could find anybody.

Yuri looked at Brooklyn to see if she was doing the right thing. Brooklyn only shrugged her shoulders. "It might make you feel better." Brooklyn said, and Yuri looked at Rhylee.

Rhylee made a face, staring at her phone. "You should've checked that nigga Instagram more." Rhylee said turning her phone around to show Yuri.

It was a comment on Mazis picture from xoxo.briii, that had heart eyes. He replied to that comment only.

Yuri shook her head. Rhylee pulled her phone back, clicking on the page.

"Damn," Rhylee said in defeat, and Brooklyn moved closer to look at the girl. She frowned. The girl wasn't ugly at all.

"Let me see." Yuri said, and Rhylee turned her phone around. The girl was brownskin with a really pretty face, and her body was amazing. She was posing in a blue lingerie set from SavageXFenty.

Rhylee pulled her phone back, going to the girls most recent photo, which was of her and Mazi holding her baby bump at their baby shower. They both had on all pink with bright smiles on their faces.

"Why y'all making that face? Let me see." Yuri said, and Rhylee reluctantly turned her phone around to show her friend the picture of her cheating ex-boyfriend posing with the girl he cheated with. All smiles like a big happy family.

She couldn't help but let her eyes linger on the picture, scanning every detail until she couldn't bear it anymore. She averted her gaze, trying to push back the tears that threatened to spill. She couldn't blame anyone but herself; she wanted to see the picture, and it only made her feel worse.

"Yuri- Aye wassup, Ri!" Brooklyn's voice was abruptly interrupted by O'Shea calling out Yuri's name.

O'Shea was her neighbor; they were cool, but they didn't talk much. Especially since Mazi started suspecting that O'Shea had feelings for her when he really wanted Rhylee.

But you couldn't tell an insecure man anything, so Yuri decided to keep her distance from O'Shea to avoid any unnecessary drama.

"Hey Shea." Yuri replied with a small smile on her face. He gave her a quick hug before looking at Rhylee, who was trying to act like she didn't see him.

"Why yo friend always tryna front Ri?" He asked, keeping his eyes on Rhylee; she was just sipping her mimosa, taking small glances at him, and he caught her making him smile.

Yuri and Brooklyn already knew Rhylee was low-key feeling him, but she liked being chased. "We gon be here for a minute, Kash." O'Shea informed his friend, who was standing behind him all quiet.

Kash sucked his teeth watching O'Shea make his way over to Rhylee to be all up in her face. Yuri couldn't help but stare at Kash; he had a nice Carmel skin tone. He had locs that were touching his shoulders, also the mustache and goatee combo that complemented his big pink lips.

Not to mention, he was tall too. He was the whole package. Yuri looked away from him before she got caught staring. Kash made his way to the seat next to O'Shea, which was a seat across from Yuri.

"Shea get away from me. You know I got a man." Rhylee spoke, lying straight through her teeth. "Fuck him. I had dibs on you first." O'Shea said, making Rhylee smile but she dropped it quickly.

"You ain't have dibs on shit. I'm not an object." She corrected him; he bit his lip at her tone. Yuri shook her head at them.

"They'd be so cute. I don't know why she playing." Brooklyn said out loud, making Yuri laugh while Rhylee glared at her.

"See even yo friends telling you to fuck with a real nigga." O'Shea said, making Rhylee roll her eyes.

Yuri licked her lips, looking at Kash, who held a bored look on his face. "Your quiet." She spoke first, catching his attention. He licked his lips and shrugged his shoulders. "I don't got none to say." He said making her nod her head.

"I'm Yuri." She introduced herself, holding her hand out for him to shake. Kash sat up to shake her hand. "Kash."

They pulled back their hands and locked eyes, his intense gaze causing Yuri to shift in her seat. "Your mother named you Kash?" she asked, trying to make conversation. She shifted in her seat again; she liked the way his voice sounded. Deep and calm.

Kash sat up, "You tryna be funny?" He asked and she shook her head no. "I never met someone with your name before. I like it though; it's unique." She told him.

"Does she like money? That's why she named you that?" She asked, he smiled a little showing his braces. "You talk a lot." He told her, and she shrugged her shoulders.

"I like talking to people." She replied, "So you like talking to strangers?" He questioned and she shook her head no. "You know my name, and I know yours. We aren't strangers."

He licked his lips. "You still a stranger to me. I don't know you." He said and she tilted her head. "Do you want to get to know me?" She asked, raising her eyebrow.

"No," he said, causing her face to fall. She frowned, making him laugh a little. "I'm playi—let's go nigga," O'Shea interjected, cutting him off. Kash shot O'Shea a glare and stood up from his chair. They walked away, leaving the restaurant.

Yuri continued to frown, a little disappointed that they didn't finish talking.
