Ronnie's POV:

I sat in front of my vanity mirror, nervously twirling a strand of my chestnut hair around my finger. Tonight was my first official date with Tanner, ever since we've agreed to be boyfriend and girlfriend. The thought of being someone's girlfriend both excited and terrified me.

My mind instantly reminded me of John and Asher. Was I really ready to start dating again? I was worried that dating Tanner might open some scars from the past.

Just breathe, just relax, it'll be okay

Just an hour 'til your car's in the driveway

Just the first time ever hanging out with you

Tonight

Taking a deep breath, I tried to calm my racing heart. I knew I couldn't let my past dictate my present. Tanner had been patient and kind, showing me a love I had never experienced before. He deserved a chance, and I owed it to myself to give love another shot.

Being filled with a random sense of determination, I began to prepare for my date. I carefully picked out my outfit, wanting to strike the perfect balance between casual and chic. I chose a flowy floral dress that made me feel feminine and confident. As I slipped it on, I couldn't help but smile at my reflection. Maybe tonight would be different.

Next came the makeup. I decided to keep it simple, opting for a natural look that accentuated my features. I applied a touch of mascara to make my eyes pop and a soft pink lipstick to enhance my smile. I wanted Tanner to see my true self, not a mask I had worn in the past to hide my insecurities.

As I finished getting ready, my mind began to wander. What if Tanner turned out to be like the others? What if my fears were realized once again? Doubts began to creep in, but I quickly pushed them aside. I couldn't let fear control me anymore.

I've got my money on things goin' badly

Got a history of stories ending sadly

Still hoping that the fire won't burn me

Just one time, just one time

All I know is this could either break my heart

Or bring it back to life

Got a feelin' your electric touch

Could fill this ghost town up with life

And I want you now, wanna need you forever

In the heat of your electric touch, mm-mm

With a final glance in the mirror, I took a deep breath and headed out the door. As I walked towards the café where we had planned to meet, my nerves started to fade away. I reminded myself that I had the power to shape my story, and I was determined to make this chapter beautiful.

When I arrived at the café, I spotted Tanner waiting at a table near the window. His smile lit up the room as he saw me approach. The warmth in his eyes instantly melted away any lingering doubts I had. This felt right.

"Hey, Ronnie," he greeted me, his voice filled with genuine excitement.

"Hi, Tanner," I replied, returning his smile. I couldn't help but notice the effort he had put into making the date special.
