Joel's POV:
As Emily and I sat across from each other at a cozy little café, I couldn't help but feel a mix of excitement and nervousness. Our relationship had been blossoming beautifully. The thought of spending this time with her made my heart race with anticipation.
Elevator buttons and morning air
Strangers' silence makes me wanna take the stairs
If you were here we'd laugh about their vacant stares
But right now my time is theirs
The evening sun cast a warm glow on Emily's face, accentuating her radiant smile. She looked stunning in her favorite summer dress, and I couldn't help but feel lucky to have her by my side. We had been talking and laughing about various topics, enjoying each other's company.
But as the conversation shifted, Emily's expression turned serious. Her eyes darted away from mine, and her fingers played nervously with the edge of her napkin. I could tell there was something on her mind, something she needed to share.
"Joel," she began hesitantly, "there's something I've been thinking about lately, and I think it's important that we discuss it."
I reached across the table and gently placed my hand on top of hers, silently urging her to continue. "Of course, Emily. You can talk to me about anything."
She took a deep breath and met my gaze, her eyes filled with worry. "You know, Ronnie's world tour is just around the corner, and I've been thinking about how it might affect us. I mean, you'll be joining her as a backing vocalist, and that means spending a lot of time together."
I nodded, understanding her concern. Ronnie, my talented sister, had asked me to join her on tour to lend my voice to her music. It was an opportunity I couldn't pass up, but it meant being away from Emily for long stretches of time.
Seems like there's always someone who disapproves
They'll judge it like they know about me and you
And the verdict comes from those with nothing else to do
The jury's out, but my choice is you
Emily continued, her voice tinged with anxiety. "What I'm really afraid of is how the fans might react when they find out about us. We've managed to keep our relationship a secret so far, but once Ronnie knows, it's only a matter of time before others find out too. I don't want our love to be harassed or overshadowed by the public eye."
I squeezed her hand reassuringly, my heart aching at her worries. "Emily, I understand your concerns, and they're valid. But please know that no matter what happens, I am here for you. Our love is strong, and nothing can break that. If the fans find out and things get difficult, I promise to stand by your side, unwavering and unyielding."
A glimmer of hope sparkled in Emily's eyes as she searched my face for any signs of doubt. Seeing none, she smiled softly, her fears slowly dissipating. "Thank you, Joel. I needed to hear that. I love you so much, and I don't want anything to come between us."
I leaned across the table, my heart overflowing with love for this incredible woman. "Emily, I love you too, more than words can say. Our relationship is worth fighting for, and no amount of scrutiny or judgment can change that. We'll face whatever comes our way together, hand in hand."
