CROSSING THE WILD WAVES
Familiá Altamirano Series #2

This story contains a few spoilers for Familiá Altamirano Series #1.

"LADIES and gentlemen, Areno Airlines welcomes you to Manila, Philippines. The local time is 4:30 PM. For your safety and the safety of those around you, please remain seated with your seat belt fastened and keep the aisle clear until we are parked at the gate. Thank you." I announced the passenger service and safety announcements using the interphone.

When the plane safely landed at the gate, I greeted all the passengers for booking a flight with our airlines with a big smile on my face.

After all the passengers disembarked the plane, we, the cabin crew, checked if there was no luggage left in the overhead lockers. On the other hand, the senior flight attendant started doing the flight report.

"Last flight mo na ba talaga 'to?"

Talaga bang magreresign kana?"

I nodded. "Unfortunately, I already passed my resignation letter. This is really my last flight," I answered back.

"Bakit ka naman kasi magreresign, girl?" naghihinayang na tanong niya.

"I already visited all the countries in the world kaya pwede na ako magresign," I answered in a neutral voice, trying not to brag.

Ngumiwi siya. "Iba talaga kapag mayaman, no?" aniya. "Ikaw na ba ang maghahandle ng Areno?"

Hilaw akong ngumiti. "I don't know. Wala pang sinasabi sa akin si Daddy," I said and abruptly yawned.

Imagine the flight is over 19 hours and there is a layover flight.

"Khriz, later at my birthday party, don't forget!" Aya sa'kin ni Lucy, one of the flight attendants.

I smirked. "May demonyong nag-aayang uminom!" I exclaimed, making the other crew laugh. "Saan ba?"

"BGC!" she says.

My eyes lit up when I heard the word BGC. "Sure! Count me in!"

She grinned. "Aasahan kita doon! Pati ikaw Jen!" The latter just nodded while the smirk on my face staple.

We disembarked the plane and rode the service bus back to our base. The sounds of our heels and the wheels of our carry-on luggage reverberated as we walked towards the Boarding Bridge to the main airport.

I bid my goodbye to the crew before I walked towards the parking area. May mga taong napapatingin sa akin habang naglalakad ako. I gave them a nod and a subtle smile. When I noticed my car, I almost ran to hug it.

It's been two days since I last saw my car. . . My dream car. A convertible pink porsche.

This isn't the same car I had way back in college. I bought my dream car when I started working as a Flight attendant in Areno two years ago. Pinag-ipunan 'ko ito para mabili. I didn't ask my parents to buy it for me because I wanted to buy the car using the money I worked hard for.

I took off my maroon coat, revealing my white button-sleeves underneath. I also removed my floral maroon scarf and my heels.
