Aether's POV:

"Long time no see, Xiao." - A

He just stared at me for a bit with a blank stare before speaking.

"Welcome back to Liyue." - X

"Thank you." - A

My smile got wider as I said so but after a while things got a bit too silent so that smile slowly faded cause of the awkwardness.

"Traveler, I want to talk with you." - X

My brows arose at the hearing of that and so I just kept looking at him as I nodded. He then reached out his hand to me once again. As soon as I grabbed it and headed off, I realised that more and more fireflies started showing up on the scene. But since I wasn't able to catch them this time for material I just let them be roaming around as I followed Xiao back to Wangshu Inn. Once we got there Xiao turned to Verr Goldet and spoke.

"I'd like to access the third floor's balcony." - X

"Immediately." - VG

She quickly opened a drawer full of keys and after some searching she gave the key to Xiao who then Immediately stormed off with me up to the third floor. He dragged me outside to the balcony and that's where only he was able to let go of my hand. He leaned his arms on the railing and looked at the beautiful scenery of Liyue. After half a minute I did the same, waiting for him to speak. He slowly lowered his head and then whispered in a quiet voice.

"I know you planned to meet Zhongli- I mean Morax... in two days." - X

"Yes." - A

"This meeting won't be lighthearted per usual." - X

"Why do you say that?" - A

I turned my gaze on him and to that he just put his elbows on the railing and began fiddling with his own fingers as he let out a sigh.

"He's resting in his deathbed. His time is slowly up." - X

I couldn't believe what I heard. Zhongli? Dying? I didn't know Archon's have a life limit.

"I'm truly sorry." - A

Xiao kept silent and his face hid within his hair. We stayed silent for a while, me and Paimon both looing at Xiao with a pity worth look.

"And.. He chose me as his disciple." - X

"Huh? Disciple?" - A

"That means I'm going to be the next Geo Archon." - X

Xiao began fiddling with his fingers even faster after he said those words and that's how an assumption came to my mind. So I asked to make sure.

"Are you scared of being the next Geo Archon?" - A

"Truthfully. Yes. A little. I'm used to follow orders. Not give them out." - X

The area became silent once again for a while until he spoke again.

"I'm not suited to become a shape of perfection." - X

"You don't have to." - A

To that Xiao suddenly raised his head and looked at me.

"I know you look up to Zhongli, but just because he treated his power how he did, doesn't mean you got to treat it the same. All that matters is that you don't use it for your own needs." - A

"Do I look like I ever used my power for my pleasure?" - X

I raised my brow and my face froze in a shocked expression as I tried to clear up the misunderstanding.

"No, No! I just said that additionally. I know you would never do that. You use it to save people after all." - A

I looked to my side and began itching the back of my head as I spoke. But he just turned back towards the view and kept silent. After a bit he let out a sigh and rested his head on his arms that were on the railing.

"I just never imagined this day would come this soon." - X

"I never imagined I'd get this far in my journey aswell. So you aren't completely alone in that feeling." - A

He kept silent for a bit, then got up straight and got closer to me. He stared into my eyes then back at the view and spoke.

"Guess we are similar in that matter, huh?" - X

"I suppose." - A

Not long after, the moon began to rise from behind the mountains and we just admired the scenery. After the moon arised Paimons stretched and yawned before speaking.

"Traveler, Xiao I'll head back to our room and head to sleep. Don't stay away too long!" - P

We both turned to Paimon and I nodded. Suddenly something came up in my mind and I spoke out loud.

"Ah! Wait Paimon, the room keys!" - A

I said as I began searching for it and gave it to her as soon as I found it.

"Don't lock the door and leave the key in the door." - A

"Okay got it!..." - P

Paimon yawned once again then slowly floated away. Once she left we went back to staring at the scenery in silence. In the silence we could hear nothing but the music of nature which was quite calming for me. Soon I decided to break that silence as I slid my arms off of the railing and placed only my hand upon it as I turned to Xiao.

"Once you become an Archon, I shall be one of your followers." - A

Xiao suddenly turned in my way and a soft breeze began to blow our way. I smiled lightly and bent my head to the side while he just stared at me with a quite shocked expression that faded into a blank one. Suddenly a rock hit me in the head and I added.

"I mean while I'm still in Teyvat that is." - A

I closed my eyes and kept smiling while I itched the back of my head. I was waiting for him to respond something but soon as I was just about to give up and give in to the awkwardness, turn around and just keep staring towards the moon, Xiao spoke.

"Aether." - X

I opened my eyes and raised one of my eyebrows.

"Thank you." - X

My eyes opened wide out of surprise and kept looking at Xiao who refused to face me at the time. For me it was just kind of surprising that he said such thing out of the blue. But after a bit I smiled, feeling great in my heart, knowing that Xiao is willing to open up towards me more.

"Nothing to thank for." - A

"Yes there is. It means a lot for me that you look up to me." - X

At first I was shocked but then later my face got erupted with a slight smile and I slowly reached my hand out behind him, gently wrapped it around his shoulder.

"Everyone needs someone who supports them by their side. You deserve someone too." - A

His eyes then opened wide and he immediately turned away from me. I couldn't help but let out a little laugh and let go of him, stepping back of the railing.

"I think I'll head to my room now. I feel tired." - A

Xiao still refused to face me but he quietly still spoke three words.

"Good night, Aether." - X

I couldn't help but let my smile become wider as I responded.

"Good night." - A

I then turned around and headed inside of the building. I headed straight for my room, changed my clothes and finally layed down on the bed, falling asleep.
