"What is that?" Noi wondered aloud.

"It's called pizza. Just eat it and smile," Ava told us.

I happily took a piece, immediately dropping it onto the platter.

"Ouch," I hissed, pulling my hand back to clutch it to my chest.

"Are you ok Y/N?" Andrew asked.

"Y-yeah, I'm just going to run some cold water on it. Asch, can you help me? My hand is not handing right now." I got out of my chair and Asch did the same. Half of me was reluctant to grab his hand, but a small part of me that I hated liked the warm sensation of his hand on mine.

I found a single-stall family bathroom and dragged him into it, locking the door behind me.

"What do you want?" Asch grumbled.

"I want to make sure you don't fuck this up!" I exclaimed. "As adorable as Noi is, he's clueless! I'm hoping this time you can use your brain and know what to say."

"I DO, NOW, CAN WE-" he began.

I threw my hand over his mouth. "Shut up. Humans can hear you through the door." I removed my hand and clung to the one I had burned.

I held my left hand over my right, the one I had burned. My left palm emitted a bright green light, my healing powers. Asch watched, staring, his jet-black eyes studying my every move.

"Let's go," I ordered. I grasped his hand again and unlocked the door. As we were walking back to the table we passed Ava and Noi. Ava shot me a panicked glance and continued. Me and Asch made our way back to the table.

Andrew and Devon smiled upon our return. "It's great to hear Ava has a friend. She didn't get along with most kids," Devon rambled.

"Me neither, actually," I replied. "I-it was hard for me growing up. I didn't have any friends. The closest I was to anyone was my horse and now she's who knows where," I admitted. I glanced at Asch who was slowly chewing a bite of pizza and looking at me with what might have been thoughtfulness in his eyes.

"We're sorry to hear that. It's great that you found a friend in Ava, though," Andrew said.

I heard footsteps and turned to see Ava and Noi walking back.

"S-sorry about that. Long line at the bathroom," Ava excused, climbing back into her chair. I watched Noi doing the same.

I took a slice of pizza that had cooled off and bit into it. The cheesy goodness melted in my mouth. I had never tasted anything like it. And though it was better than the other earthly foods I had eaten it would never beat bloodberry pie. Bloodberry pie tasted sweeter than anything you could ever imagine but it had just the right amount of tart to make sure the sugar didn't become overpowering.

"So-a, Noi, tell me, what kind of job do you have?" Andrew questioned.

"Job?" Noi inquired, apricot eyes wide with alarm.

"S-so, Dad, how's your campaign going?" Ava saved.

"Haven't you been keeping up?" Andrew interrogated.

"Uh, I mean I've been busy looking for a job and stuff."

Andrew gave his daughter a look saying, that's a bad lie.

"Ok, fine I haven't kept up."

Andrew sighed. "Ava."

"Darling, now isn't the time to-" Devon tried.

"You're gonna have to grow up someday Pumpkin. You should really care about-" Andrew interrupted by Noi's curiosity.

"What's a campaign?"
