Chapter 24 – Potion’s motions

A warm feeling crossed Isaac’s chest as he made his way to the food court for breakfast. That warm feeling was what a possible cold day did to him; winter was so close he could almost touch it. He could almost taste the cold ice floors that were bound to come.

Still his face remained composed and reserved, a slight twinkle in his eye that revealed happiness from the weather but nothing more. He spotted Clea on his way and stopped in his tracks; she waved and made her way over.

“Nice day we’re having.” She muttered. “For you anyway, you’ve got to love this.”

Isaac nodded. “You know me well.”

“Where are you headed so early?”

“Breakfast and then class.” He responded. “I need to speak with a couple teachers ahead of time for the professor, then nothing but school work.”

“Do you ever take a break from the books Isaac?” She asked him. “We barely hang out anymore because of your busy schedule.”

His face remained serious. “I’m trying to get ahead in my classes, Clea.”

“So no room for an average teenage life?”

“Remind me why I would want to be average.”

Clea let out a large sigh, remembering that this is why they’d never be together like she had hoped. He was far too busy and didn’t pay attention to the little hints she gave to inform how much she wanted to hang out. They’d forever be friends and friends only. Isaac enjoyed his intensely independent lifestyle.

            “Never mind Isaac.”

“Alright.” He replied distracted with the food court that was awaiting his arrival in the distance. A slight nod was exchanged as he gracefully walked away. He wasn’t sure how he felt about Clea. Isaac considered her to be one of his closest female friends, she was smart and his age but he just wasn’t attracted to her. He didn’t feel the need to gain anything more than a friendship.

The food court was slightly empty to Isaac’s surprise; the occasional student here and there reminded him that it wasn’t completely empty. He walked over to the waffle section and sniffed, all of them looked oddly hot to his liking. With a groan he lifted a plate and walked over to an empty seat towards the back of the room.

Sitting he held the plate in his hands allowing ever hot aspect of food to begin to get slightly chilly, the plate turning a bright blue and the waffle going from hot to coldish warm. He placed the plate down and let out a sigh before taking a bite into his waffle feeling content.

That was until he noticed Jonah walking into the food court looking more happy and go-lucky than ever. He sat down right in front of Isaac grinning awkwardly before taking out two canisters from his bag, one he placed in front of himself and the other in front of Isaac.
