I sat at my favorite coffee shop, sipping on a warm latte and lost in thought. It was a chilly afternoon, and the cozy ambiance of the café offered solace from the world outside. As i absentmindedly scrolled through my phone.

Since it was Thanksgiving break, I had nothing to do, my parents wanted me to come home for thanksgiving, I spotted Carter walking through the door.

With a bright smile, Carter approached my table and asked if he could join me. I eagerly gestured for him to take a seat, my curiosity piqued.

It's been a couple days since our night together, and I must admit that I did leave in the morning. I think that Aiden spike the eggnog.

But I didn't know what to do or how to feel.

"Hey so I have a game tonight and I was wondering if you'd liked to go." He asked looking at me. I smiled. When I'm with him I can't lie I smile. He could make everyone smile.

"I mean you are the one who helped me being able to play in this game?" He added.

"Okay I will." I say taking a sip of my coffee.

"Okay great!" He says happily standing up. Then he looks at me. "You know I don't really like it when they sneak out on me Gemma." And with that I felt my cheeks heat up again.

I arrived at the ice rink and was instantly hit with the familiar smell of ice and the distinct sound of pucks and sticks hitting the boards. The arena was packed with excited fans, their cheers and chants filling the air.

I knew the familiar sound. I used to love coming to hockey games.

Especially my freshman year.

I found a spot right near the glass, giving me a close-up view of the action. The girls wanted for me. The ice was pristine, shining under the bright lights, while the players warmed up, gliding effortlessly across the surface.

They were warming up.

"Hey Carter gave me this, he wanted me to tell you to wear it." Avery said handing me a hoodie.

I looked at it and saw DIAZ and the number 28 on the back. It didn't take me time to throw it on. I was cold.

As the game started, i could feel the energy intensifying. The crowd erupted in cheers as the players raced down the ice, trying to score goals. It was like being caught in a whirlwind of excitement and adrenaline.

Carter was a force to be reckoned with on the ice. His speed, agility, and coordination were simply impressive. I couldn't help but cheer loudly every time he made a skillful play or took a shot on goal.

In the final minutes of the game, Carter's team managed to score the winning goal. The whole arena erupted in a thunderous cheer, and I couldn't help but jump up and down in excitement, hugging my best friend next to me who had become equally caught up in the moment.

After the game, i had the chance to visit the locker room and congratulate Carter on his incredible performance.

"I'm not going to lie I've never been so caught up in a game like that before." I say as Carter and me walked back to his car.

"I know I could hear you." He said laughing.

I covered my mouth with my hands. "Omg no." I said not believing that I was actually that invested.

"So are you going home for tomorrow?" He asked referencing to thanksgiving.

"Yeah my parents bought me a plane ticket for tomorrow well actually tonight but I don't know if I'm gonna go." I explained.

We got to he's car and then he open the back and set his bag and stuff in it.

"How about you?" I asked.

"No my family doesn't really family if you know what I mean." He says.

"So are you going to go?" He asked.

"I don't know they always ask me back but I never go." I said leaning on he's car.

"I think you should go." Carter suggested. "I'm not trying to push anything on you or make you go, but if my family could family, I would definitely go." He added.

He's right you can't run away from your problems forever.

"I guess I'll go, can you take me to my place?" I asked as Carter had a grin on his face. "Sure thing darling."

I hate that nickname.

"You smell like me." He smiled l. I look at him. "I need to shower then." I bite back putting on my seatbelt.
