dove arrived with joey to the topper's house
where the party was being held.

joey hopped off of his boat and tied it down, then helped dove off.

"do you mind carrying in those beers?" he asked the blonde girl.

"no, of course not. i'll take 'em." she obliged.

joey handed her the case of beers and followed him.

when she saw how big the party was, her heart dropped.

she started to realize how bad of an idea this was. if anyone saw her, it could get straight back to the ward and mary. she also felt guilty for having fun while john b was still on the run.

but there was no turning back now. she was already there.

she just wanted to have some fun. let loose. after everything that had happened, she deserved it.

she walked up to the house with joey and the party was already wild.

"holy shit." dove muttered.

"you okay?" joey asked.

"no, yeah, i'm fine. i just haven't been to a party in so long, it feels weird." dove answered.

"hey, you wanna have fun, right? so when an opportunity presents itself, you must act on it." joey replied.

dove smiled for a moment. "you sound like my friend jj for a minute there."

"maybank?" he raised his eyebrows.

"i mean, i don't know any other jj's." dove shrugged.

joey chuckled. "that is true. maybank is a cool guy, though."

dove was happy that joey wasn't like other kooks, despite the fact that he's a man whore. he was sweet and liked everyone, though.

"he is." dove agreed. "shall we go in?"

"we shall."

he grabbed her hand and led her into the house, but she pulled it away as soon as they got into the house.

she didn't like him holding her hand. it didn't feel right at all.

"joey perez!" topper shouted and came over.

"what's up, top." joey nodded to him and dapped him up.

"oh man, you came in clutch! you're making this poor girl carry your beers though? who is—dove?" topper furrowed her eyebrows.

he was surprised to see her there. too surprised.

she swallowed.

here it goes.

"what the hell are you doing back here? do you know how—."

he stopped himself and looked at joey, then back at dove.

"you know what? welcome back, dove. can't believe i'm saying this to a pogue, but it's good to see you." topper nodded.

"you...too?" dove squinted and tilted her head to the side ever so slightly.

it went silent except for the blaring music and the loud, sweaty people all around them.

it was making dove so uncomfortable, so she had to say something.
