I've been friends with Jacob, Bella, and Edward for about a year now and they are my best friends. About 2 or 3 months into the friendships, I found out Jacob is a werewolf and Edward is a vampire.

About 3 or 4 months ago, Bella and Jacob started dating. I'm happy for them, truly, but I'm honestly kind of jealous of their relationship. I don't like Jacob or Bella like that, I'm just jealous that they are in a happy and healthy relationship. I like Edward, and I want to be in a relationship like Jacob and Bella's with him but I'm way too nervous to ask him out. If he doesn't like me like that, it could ruin our friendship. I would much rather have a friendship with him than nothing at all.

You'd think that being friends with him for a year would mean I met his family already but no, I haven't. I am today though. And when I tell you I'm nervous, I mean it. I barely slept last night.

Right now, I'm sitting at my vanity getting ready. He said it's a simple dinner at his house, so I didn't dress fancy, but I also didn't dress in my normal sweatpants and crop top. I decided to wear black flare leggings and an olive-green long sleeve crop top with my normal high top black converse. I left my hair down and only put on a little concealer and some mascara.

Edward picked me up around 5:30pm and drove us to his house. We are sitting in the parked car in the driveway. I'm staring at his house through the windshield and I'm insanely nervous. I think Edward noticed my bouncing leg because he rested his hand on it, stopping it from bouncing.

"Y/n, calm down. It's just dinner with my family," Edward says, in an effort to comfort me.

"Yeah but, what if they don't like me? What if they tell you, you shouldn't be friends with me? What if-" I was cut off by Edward, "Enough with the what ifs. My family is going to love you."

I take a deep breath and look at Edward. I nod at him, signaling I'm ready even though I am nowhere near ready. We both get out of his car and head inside. He opens the door for me, and I walk inside of the house. I look around, this place is huge! He leads me to the kitchen where I see an older blonde man and a woman with red-ish hair.

"Y/n, these are my parents," Edward introduces me to them.

"It's nice to meet you Mr. and Mrs. Cullen," I say.

"It's nice to finally meet you. Please, call me Carlisle," The blonde man, Carlisle, says.

"Call me Esme," The red-ish haired woman, Esme, says.

A woman with short dark hair comes downstairs and a man with shoulder length dirty blonde hair is behind her.

The woman walks up to me, "Hi, I'm Alice. This is my husband, Jasper."

"It's nice to meet you two, I'm Y/n," I introduce myself.

Edward, Alice, Jasper and I sit at the dinner table. A few minutes later, A young blonde woman followed by a black-haired man joined us at the table. The woman gives me a look, I can't tell if it's supposed to be like a dirty look or just a normal look.

Edward looks at me, "That's Rosalie and her husband Emmett."

I simply nod my head and offer the couple a small smile.

Esme and Carlisle come into the room with the food and set it down on the table. The food gets passed around and we all serve ourselves. I don't take much because I want to make sure everyone else gets some.

We quietly eat until Esme breaks the silence, "So, Y/n, how long have you and Edward known each other?"

"Um, a little over a year, I'd say," I answer.

Rosalie eyes me, "And you're human?"

"Yeah," I answer.

Rosalie continues, "And you don't care that we're vampires?"

"Not at all," I answer.

Rosalie is full of questions, "It doesn't worry you that we could pin you down and drink your blood at any time?"

Edward glares at her, "Rosalie."

"It's okay," I smile at Edward and answer Rosalie, "It doesn't worry me at all. I trust Edward and he says none of you will."

Rosalie smirks at you, "What if he lied? And this is all a trap so we can feed?"

Nerves set in again and I take a shaky breath.

Carlisle speaks, "Rosalie, that's enough."

I stand up from my seat, "Is there a bathroom I can use?"

Esme smiles at me, "Down the hall, first door on the right."

I smile back, "Thank you."

I leave the dining room and go into the bathroom. I stand at the sink and look at myself in the mirror. I take deep breaths to calm myself. I walk out of the bathroom and am met with Alice.

She smiles at me, "I'm sorry about Rosalie. She can be a bit much sometimes. She's also kind of judgy and bitchy but you'll get used to it."

I smile back, "It's okay."

Alice leads me back to the dining table. We finish eating along with small talk. Esme and Carlisle begin to clear plates. I stand up to help.

Esme looks at me, "No, no, no. Sit down."

"Please, I insist," I say.

"You are the guest. Sit," Esme says.

I reluctantly sit back down. She comes back out shortly after with dessert. She brings brownies out first then returns to the kitchen and comes back with ice cream and toppings. We all make our own brownie sundae and eat. We have more small talk while we eat. About 8:30, Edward drives me home. When we arrive in my driveway, Edward looks at me.

"What?" I ask.

"Y/n, do you wanna know the real reason I asked you to come to dinner and meet my family?" Edward asks.

"Why?"

"Because, I really like you."

My eyes go wide, "W-what?"

"I know this may ruin our friendship, but I couldn't hide it anymore. I needed to tell you how I truly feel."

"Edward, you have no clue how happy this makes me."

"Really?"

"Yeah. I've liked you for a while. I've just been too nervous to say anything."

"In that case, Y/n, will you be my girlfriend?"

"Yes, I will."

I kiss him on the cheek before opening my door and getting out of the car.

"Goodnight Edward."

"Goodnight Y/n."

I close the car door and go into my house. Tonight couldn't have ended any better.
