odette's pov

-WAITING outside the store seemed like the safest option, so that's what i did. "hey grover is this quest over yet?" i ask him with a groan. "i'm surprised your complaining," grover says with a smirk. i squint my eyes at him while leaning against a brick wall, "why wouldn't i be complaining? this quest hasn't been the best." "cause your getting quality time with your boyfriend percy." "grover be quiet. one he isn't my boyfriend-" "yet." "shush! two almost dying multiple times isn't quality time." grover just rolls his eyes, "should we check if they're done?" "yeah let's go! ladies first," i say as i open the door for grover. he ignores me and sticks his head into the store, "is it over now?" annabeth nodded so we both walked inside.

percy led us all to a door that says 'do not enter'. i turned to annabeth and pointed up at the sign, "it says we shouldn't enter." "are we sure this is even the right way?" percy questions. i slowly opened the door after grover dared me to, and it literally smelt like dead bodies or something. i immediately stepped back as i started to cough, "oh my gosh, it smells like death.. disgusting." percy patted my back as annabeth gave grover a ball to calm his nerves. "better?" annabeth asks grover as he squeezes the ball. "much," grover smiles. percy held out the five pearls, "if we get into trouble, these are our tickets out. no one's turning back till we all come back." "no one comes back!" the creepy looking guy, crusty, yells out. "dude, don't make me come back out there!" annabeth yells back with an attitude. "we don't even know what's down there.. i think it's safer if i'm not holding onto them all," percy says while handing annabeth and grover their pearls before turning to me. "uh no," i tell him while closing up his hand as he gives me a strange look. "you don't want to hold yours?" "no i don't trust myself enough for that, perce. but i trust you," i tell him with a smile. "come on guys let's go get his mom," grover says.

i followed behind annabeth as we were hidden behind a rock. "hurry up grover," annabeth whisper yells as percy and grover follow us. "not in kansas," percy mumbles making annabeth stare at him. "hey, focus. we left kansas four days ago," annabeth tells percy. "yeah, no.. it's a- nevermind," percy trails off while looking at the ground. "guys is that who i think it is?" grover asks while pointing over at something. "is it dylan o'brien?" i ask with a grin and they all just turn around to look at me. "he's not even dead, why would he be here?" percy asks with a jealous tone. i smirked and shrugged, "so who is it?" grover kept making his ball squeak as annabeth replied, "charon, the boatman, taking new arrivals across the river styx. which means that over there is the main gate." "so should we go now? so maybe we could get there first," i ask annabeth. "yeah-" she gets cut off by a squeak from grover's ball which makes her turn towards him, "why don't you let me hold on to that for now?" grover sighs but hands her the ball i pat him on the shoulder, "come on."

i held onto percy's hand to not get lost as we weaved through a big line of people. "excuse us," percy says to the people who ignored us. "well they're rude," i mumble. "i'm sorry.. sorry," percy apologized to the people. "were with the people way up there!" i exclaimed with a smile. grover grunts as he kept walking into people, "guys this just seems wrong." "nah," percy replies back the same time i say, "only losers wait in lines, no offense!" "you know you should really spend some time with me in the city, i think you'd learn a lot," percy tells grover as annabeth rolls her eyes at him. "you're not dead," charon says. "not yet..." i whisper to myself which made annabeth hit the back of my head. "i mean we're all dying to some extent," percy tells charon nervously.

"you didn't pay to cross," the boatman sighs. "wait, we can pay. we can pay!" percy says as he unzips his bag. "here, drachmas. just take- take uh... just you know take em' all," percy says while holding out the coins. the boatman blows a whistle, a whistle that's broken? "you can buy a new whistle," i smile up at charon. the ground shook a little causing me to tighten my grip on percy's hand as he looked down at me. we hear loud barking and roaring as annabeth and grover both yell, "run, go, go!" we all ran as cerberus chased us and one of the mouths snatched grover. "grover!" percy and i both yell. cerberus snarls at percy and i making percy move me behind him, "stay behind me." percy releases my hand as he pulls out his sword, but before percy does anything cerberus starts whining as he laid down. "is it going to sleep?" i whisper into percy's ear giving him goosebumps. "yeah.. i think so." we then hear a grunt and squelching sounds as we see grover get out of the dogs mouth. gross.

"you.. you are a bad dog," grover tells cerberus. "guys! i can't hold this forever," annabeth strains as she scratches the dog. "can you fly us up there with your shoes grover?" i ask him and he nods. "you can do this. one at a time, take percy first," annabeth tells grover. "what? no take odie first," percy says moving me over to grover. "maia," grover says as he holds onto me as we fly up. once i'm safe he brings percy which makes me sigh in relief. cerberus growls making my eyes widen as i go to the edge, "annabeth!" the red ball squeaks as it comes up and grover catches it. percy's pulls me away from the edge just in time as cerberus jumps towards us. he falls back down and we hear annabeth, "guys?" all three of us peer down and see annabeth holding onto rocks. we immediately pull her up and she takes the ball from grover and chucks it far away. "wow.. that was really," grover says in surprise as cerberus runs after the ball.

"how did you?" grover continues. "my father had a dog when i was little. i guess i remember the tricks," annabeth replies. "oh wow... look at that," i say while repeatedly hitting percy in the chest and pointing at a creepy looking place. "hades palace, that's where he'll be keeping the master bolt," annabeth say while staring at the palace. "and your mom perce," i say to him with a smile. percy smiles down at me but stops as we hear grover, "oh no.." "what?" percy questions. "my pearl.. i lost the pearl," grover says anxiously. "how did you lose the pearl?" i ask. "i think.. i think it's in the dog." "are you serious? what are we gonna do now?" i ask with a huff. percy grabs my hand, "i don't know, but if we don't move it's not gonna matter." "come on," annabeth says as we head off. i shake my head as i walk next to percy,

"THIS QUEST ISN'T VERY FUN."
