A/N: "The Middle" Zedd

Keefe's POV:

It was a Friday night when Biana and Fitz decided to throw a sleepover for all of us. I was excited to hang out with my friends, especially Sophie. We had all been through so much together, and a night of fun and games sounded perfect.

As I entered the Vacker residence, a wave of laughter and excitement hit me. Everyone was setting up their sleeping bags in the living room, creating a cozy hangout spot for the night. I glanced around, taking in the familiar faces of Dex, Marella, Tam, Linh, and of course, Sophie.

Biana, being the amazing hostess she is, had everything planned out. After pizzas and snacks, she announced that we were playing truth or dare. A mischievous glint flickered in her eyes as she unveiled a bowl filled with little folded papers.

The game of truth or dare began innocently enough, with Dex daring Fitz to impersonate Mr. Snuggles, his fluffy red sparkly dragon stuffed animal. Laughter filled the room as Fitz gamely tried to waddle around like the stuffed animal, much to Mr. Snuggles' chagrin.

As we sat in a circle, the first turn fell to Dex. Biana's wicked smile indicated that mischief was underway. She challenged Dex to tell the truth about his biggest secret crush. Blushing, Dex hesitated for a moment before admitting, "Marella, it's you." Marella's cheeks turned a bright shade of pink, and Dex looked relieved to have finally gotten it off his chest.

As the night went on, the secrets spilled out, creating a tapestry of deep connections and hidden emotions. I watched as each person revealed a little piece of themselves, and it made me appreciate my friends even more. These were the people who understood me, who stood by my side through thick and thin.

It was my turn next, and Sophie's mischievous grin made me nervous. She always had a way of seeing right through me, and I knew I was in for trouble. "Truth or dare, Keefe?" she asked, her eyes twinkling with mischief.

I decided to start out with dare, obviously. Sophie's question hung in the air, loaded with anticipation. "I dare you to say your crushes name." she asked, her gaze unwavering.

My heart skipped a beat as I tried to think of a suitable answer. Should I play it cool and reveal nothing, or should I take a risk and be honest? Then, something shifted within me, and I found myself blurting out the name that had been on the tip of my tongue for so long. "You, Sophie. It's always been you."

The room fell silent, the only sound the steady beat of my heart thudding in my chest. Sophie's eyes widened in shock, her cheeks flushing with a mix of surprise and something else I couldn't quite place. I held my breath, waiting for her response.

A myriad of emotions crossed Sophie's face before she finally spoke. "I... I didn't know, Keefe," she murmured, her voice soft yet filled with emotion. "I've always admired you, your wit, your charm, your bravery. But I never imagined..."

Her words hung in the air, heavy with unspoken truths and unexplored possibilities. In that moment, the world seemed to shrink around us, leaving only the two of us in a bubble of shared vulnerability.

Finally, it was Sophie's turn. She chose dare and gave a mischievous smile, clearly plotting something. I felt a sense of unease wash over me, fearing I would be the subject of her dare.

"Sophie," Biana said with a coy grin, "I dare you to give someone in this room a kiss." My heart skipped a beat as Sophie's eyes locked with mine. The room fell silent, waiting for her response.

Sophie glanced around the room, her gaze lingering on each person. Then, with a subtle nod, she made her decision.

She walked over to me, her eyes filled with a mix of courage and uncertainty. As everyone watched, she pressed her soft lips against mine. Time seemed to stand still as a rush of warmth spread throughout my body. It felt like a dream come true, it was amazing. As she pulled away, a mixture of emotions played on her face. The room erupted in cheers and applause.

Eventually, the night ended, and everyone settled down to sleep. As I lay in my sleeping bag, and all I could think about was Sophie's sweet soft kiss. With that I fell asleep with a smile on my face.

And just like that, as the sun rose over Everglen, a new chapter began for us. We may have started as friends, but the truth or dare game had brought our feelings to the surface. Now, it was up to us to explore this new territory and see where it would lead.

As I walked away from the sleepover, hand in hand with Sophie, I couldn't help but feel a renewed sense of hope. Love, I realized, was a complicated game, but with the right person by your side, it could lead to the most beautiful adventures.
