JUNGKOOK POV

We must have drifted off for
a while because the next thing
I knew, I was opening my
eyes to see my mate because what else could he be?

propped up on an elbow and looking down at me.

"Good morning, Jungkook."

"It's not morning, is it?" It couldn't be.

"No." He grinned.

"But you were sleeping so peacefully, I kind of expected
you to sleep until tomorrow."

"And miss more time with
you?"

I looped an arm around his
neck and pulled him in close.

"I'd rather kiss my mate."

He didn't argue at all and I
was very glad I woke up
before we had to return to
our various duties.

When we broke for air, I
pulled him down to lie with
his head on my chest.

We'd had a really intense experience and I wanted to
make sure we had some
post-sexy-times talk.

"Well, this is very nice."

And it so was.

Nicest time in memory but
that made perfect sense with
my mate.

"Yes."

He rubbed his cheek on my
chest and made a cute little
hum.

"So we're mated now?"

"No..."

I thought of him and my wolf certainly thought of him as
our mate but we had yet to
seal the deal.

"Not yet."

"I know it must seem odd
since I was with a shifter...
who knew...how are things different with a mating?"

"Well, I'd mark you."

It seemed not enough to
explain.

"And we'd be together for
the rest of our natural lives,
some would say forever."

"If you love me, why didn't
you mark me already?" He
truly looked puzzled.

"I still don't entirely
understand."

I couldn't blame him.

Why would he understand?

Shifters and all that entailed were totally out of his realm
of reality.

"Because we're very new to
one another, you are very new
to what I am and as you can
tell, you have a lot to learn before you're ready for something like that."

He blinked at me.

"Ari marked me without
asking if it was all right."

"Or telling me anything
besides that she loved me."

"And while that was the very most important thing to me
at the time, a little openness
about something like the fact
she turned into a wolf from
time to time would have
been nice."

"That's not everything it's
about, you know."

"We're different down to our DNA."

"Okay but if you love me and
you say I'm your mate...don't you want to mark me?"

"Aren't you tempted just a
little?" He was tracing circles
on my chest, around one
nipple then the next as he discussed temptation.

"I'll show you how much you tempt me." I rolled him onto
his back and we had no more discussion for about an hour.
