JUNGKOOK POV

We were coming in close on
the baby's arrival and Dalsu
kept saying there must be at least five babies in there for
his dad to be so big.

Jimin laughed but I also saw
the despair on his face as he cradled that big belly.

Dalsu meant no harm.

I think he was hoping for a
litter.

He hadn't quite gotten what
all things meant in being a
wolf and one of the kids at
school had a dog that had recently given birth to
several pups.

Trenton was stopping by
often although not as often, thank heavens, as when
Jimin was first with us.

He checked blood pressure
and prodded and poked and
did things I never saw under
a sheet and generally
pronounced him well.

He'd told him to eat a little
less salt when his ankles
swelled a bit and changed up
the teas he left but overall,
we were putt putting along.

But we were glad we had a manager at Moon Dance.

I was stopping by once a day
or so just so an "owner" was checking on things but despite his excellent health, once the healer told Jimin he was on paternity leave, he was on paternity leave.

"What time is Trenton
coming over?"

Pains that didn't really mean
the baby was coming anytime soon, as my omega called them.

"He didn't say exactly." One
of the differences between a
healer and a human doctor.

"Just later this afternoon."

"When he finishes whatever
he's working on."

"Okay."

He went back to rubbing his
belly and watching TV.

He'd never been big on it until
he had to stop working but in two weeks he'd binge watched
at least three or four shows
and I was only glad it kept
him somewhat occupied
because the man was not
used to sitting around and
kept wanting to do things like sweep and vacuum and he
was not up to the challenge.

Walking across the room
without taking a break was
his best thing right now.

"Anyone home? And before
you answer, at least Jimin
had better be home."

"Trenton, come in."

I was so glad to see him.

I was becoming very concerned that maybe Jimin was in early labor or something was wrong.

"How are you?"

"I'm fine." He stepped into the living room and looked around.

"But why are you so thrilled
that I'm here?"

"Something wrong? Has your omega's water broken?"

"I'm right here."

That fretful tone again but of course Trenton couldn't see where he lay on the sofa
facing the fireplace and TV.

"Don't talk about me."

"Sorry omega." I said for the thousandth time that day.

"Are you giving your alpha trouble, Jimin?" Trenton
rounded the couch and stood staring down at him.

"After he has been waiting on you hand and foot?"

"No...yes." He struggled to sit up, and Trenton took his arm
and helped him.

"I feel like a balloon filled
with oatmeal."

"Well, that's a new one."

"Let's do a little exam." He assisted him again.

"Can you make it up the
stairs?"

"Slowly."

"Then let's go."

I wanted to carry him but
didn't want to interfere
between my omega and the healer, so they went up, arm
in arm, slowly.

And after about ten minutes, Trenton called down to me
and I followed them,
anxious to know the results.

"Well?" I skidded to a stop
inside the bedroom.

"Is everything okay?"

"Is the baby all right?"

Trenton gave me one of his almost-superior smiles.

"Just fine."

"Any day now, you'll have a bouncing baby around here."

"Today?" Dalsu stood in the doorway.

"Or tomorrow? I don't want
to go to school if the baby
is coming tomorrow."

"Come in, young man."

Trenton stood beside the
bed and waved him over.

"Have you felt the baby
move?"

"No." He thrust both hands behind his back.

"He hasn't wanted to, for
some reason." Jimin said.

"But it's a great opportunity now."

"I'll hurt the baby if I touch
too hard."

"My friend's dad says you can only touch the puppies very
soft because they are little."

"And you're afraid you
don't know your own
strength?" The healer said.

"I understand but I think
you'll be careful, won't you?"

Doubt flickered on Dalsu's
face but he let his hands
drop to his sides.

"Will you supervise me?"

"Yes." The healer held out his hand.

"Let's do it together." He
guided dalsu's palm to his
dad's belly and laid it there.

"What do you feel?"

His eyes grew wide.

"I feel the puppies, I mean
the baby."

"Are you sure it's not more
than one?"

"Fairly certain." Trenton told
him.

"Humans and shifters have
one more often than anything else."

"Have you named him yet?"

Dalsu watched his hand as he kept it on Jimin's belly.

"We can't call him Dalsu
because it would be too
hard to have two Dalsu."

"That's true." The healer's lips were twitching but he held
back his smile admirably.

"Any other ideas?"

"I thought...maybe kookie so he's named after my dada."

"Do you think he'd like that name?"

My eyes were swelling, vision blurring and a tear ran down
Jimin's cheek.

I was dada.

Not Jungkook.

Not alpha.

Not friend.

I was dada.

Dalsu's papa.

"I think you'll need to discuss this with your dads so you
can all agree on a name."

"I can tell by how careful you
are that you'll be a great big brother."

"Babies are a big
responsibility."

Dalsu nodded as wisely as if
he'd had a dozen of them to watch over.

"Much more than puppies."
