i started writing poetry when i was 16 to cope with being sexually assaulted the year prior. now at 19, im a so grateful for all the beautiful things that have come from it. writing on this account and seeing the minor successes that i was achieving gave me the courage to continue writing and sharing my story. i realized that other sexual assault survivors felt seen in my work the way i did, and slowly through poetry i am healing.
