Shit...

My heart skipped a beat before my heart pounded harder in my chest. My whole body grew tense, even though I wasn't able to move at all, and I couldn't take a step back even if I wanted to to get away from the man that I had to call my uncle.

He took a threatening step toward me, and Amity and then the other person that didn't look up took a step toward me as well. "How are you, my dear niece?" he sneered. He looked me up and down with a look that caused my heart to go into the pit of my stomach, and my mouth grew dry. "You have turned into such a beautiful young lady. Your mother should be proud." He looked at my mother before he looked at me again.

"Don't," Uncle Peter said with a small growl in his voice, his voice trembling a bit as if he knew what that look meant. Fear and worry filled his voice, and I hated that I couldn't look at him and silently tell him that it was alright and everything was going to be ok. "Leave her alone, Romanov. She's not worth it."

Romanov laughed and shook his head at what Uncle Peter had said. "Oh, you poor, poor thing," he said with a small sneer in his voice. "And how do you know that she isn't worth it? Have you already had a taste?" He licked his lips, and my stomach turned in disgust.

"No," Uncle Peter said, and I could hear him shake his head. "I did not have a taste, and I do not want one. She is not my mate and is still a child."

Be careful... I wanted to say but didn't while I pressed my lips into a thin line, not knowing what my "uncle" had planned. Please, be careful, Uncle Peter. You have no idea what Romanov will do to you, or to me, and I don't want you to regret it.

Romanov sneered and took a step toward me and both Amity and the other person followed him. "Amity, be a dear," he said and gestured toward me and then my uncle with a small sneer on his face.

Amity hesitated but did what she was told to do and took another step forward because of the spell on her. Her eyes seemed to glow bright red, and she raised her hand, muttering something under her breath, and there was some shuffling coming from behind me.

"No, Amity!" Aunt Diane exclaimed. "Stop, please! You d-"

Amity shoved her other hand forward and stopped my aunt from talking, and my heart skipped a beat before it started to pound faster and harder in my chest because I couldn't help but wonder if this was going to work, and she was fully under my control again.

Shit...

"W-W-W-Wait," I spluttered, my heart beating in my throat and making it hard for me to speak. "P-P-P-Please."

My "uncle" sighed and rolled his eyes, pressing his lips into a thin line. "Stop, Amity," he said and waved his hand dismissively, and Amity did what she was told to do and held Uncle Peter in place and stopped making him come towards us. He looked at me with an annoyed look on his face and slowly blinked. "Speak," he said. "What do you want?"

I gulped and looked at the person behind him before I looked at him again. "Who is the other person with you?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper. "It's not someone that I'm close to..." I paused and furrowed my brows while my bottom lip quivered. "Is it?"

Please, say no...

My "uncle" sneered, and his eyes grew brighter with glee. "Oh," he said, and he widened his eyes in surprise. He gestured for the "guest" to step forward, and they did so. "It is someone that you were close to, my dear niece," he sneered. "Sweetie, go ahead and take off your hood so that they can see who you are." He looked at the figure, who was still silent and looking down.
