It was Maisie's birthday.
"Happy birthday mush," Keira said, bursting into her sister's room.
"Thanks," Maisie said, sitting up.
"I can't believe you're 15."
"Me neither."
They stayed chatting for ages before Lucy came to join them with a tray of pancakes with a candle on them.
"Happy birthday," she said, joining the other two on Maisie's bed.
Maisie was in a really good mood. Not only was it her birthday, but it was also her first match back after suspension.
She'd been itching to get back to games for the past three weeks and now she finally could. She was determined to play well.
It was a late kick off so it gave Maisie plenty of time to enjoy her pancakes before opening a few presents.
Keira handed her a wrapped-up box. Maisie tore off the paper before opening the lid of the box.
Inside were a pair of football boots. They were absolutely gorgeous and had her name written underneath the Nike swoosh.
"These are amazing. Thank you," Maisie said. She had a huge beam on her face and Keira was pleased that she liked them.
She just sat admiring them for a few moments, turning them over in her hands. They were beautiful, orange and red, and they had the bit coming round her ankle just like Maisie liked.
She tried them on and they were the perfect fit.
"Keira these are so brilliant. Thank you," she said, giving her a hug.
"You're welcome."
Keira and Lucy had also got her a new video game which she was looking forward to playing.
"Can we have a game now?" she asked.
Lucy looked at her watch.
"Yeah go on."
The three of them sat round playing. It was so much fun and they all got super into it.
"Right you need to get your kit on," Keira said, noticing the time.
Maisie went to do so, getting distracted to play with Narla.
"Mais come on you really need to get ready," Lucy said when she spotted the teenager still in her pyjamas.
"Sorry," she said, running upstairs and getting changed.
She came down in her full kit and they were off. Maisie was going to trial her new boots and she was looking forward to it. Her old pair had been good but they were starting to get a little bit worn.
When they arrived, Maisie went straight to her friends.
"Happy birthday!" Jess cheered.
The others all did the same and they chatted and laughed like usual, all of them feeling good and ready for the game.
They were playing Liverpool and knew that it was going to be a tough match.
Maisie started up front as usual and she was hoping to play well. She really wanted to.
She looked over and spotted Keira and Lucy stood with her parents and also Georgia and Steph.
She waved, feeling super pleased that Steph and G had come down to watch. She wanted to show them how good she could be.
As soon as the match kicked off, Maisie was in, putting on pressure. Liverpool weren't expecting it and she tackled the ball from them, passing it to Esme who was free.
