Am I interrupting?

Since the other night, Erin hadn't stopped thinking about Maisie. She was confused about the moment they'd shared; it was almost as if they were going to kiss. As confusing as her feelings were, Erin didn't mind it. She liked Maisie. She liked Maisie a lot.

They were still texting a lot and neither of them brought it up. Erin guessed that this meant Maisie wasn't as bothered as she was. Maybe it wasn't a moment. Maybe she was thinking too much into it.

Lucy walked into the kitchen. Maisie was in the middle of the room doing a headstand. She began to chuckle at the sight of her.

"You're meant to be doing your homework."

"It's so boring though," Maisie groaned, coming out of the headstand and sprawling on the floor.

"Do you want some help?" Lucy asked.

"No because I'm not doing it."

"You have to do it," Lucy told her.

"I don't want to."

"Come on mush. I'll set a timer for ten minutes then you can have a break and then another ten minutes, yeah?"

Maisie groaned but nodded. She didn't want to but she also didn't want a detention for not doing it.

Lucy was trying her best to help but attempting to get Maisie to do her homework was like getting blood out of a stone. She wasn't bothered about answering any questions and she kept zoning out.

Lucy was in the middle of explaining something when a message from Erin popped up on Maisie's phone. She went straight to it and replied.

"Maise come on. Just listen yeah?"

"Yeah one sec."

That second never came as Maisie was completely engrossed and barely even seemed to hear Lucy's encouragement to get back to it.

"Right I need to start on dinner now but can you please get on with it?"

"Yeah I will," Maisie said, only to get Lucy to stop talking.

Her and Erin continued messaging back and forth and when Lucy came to check on how she was doing, she hadn't even picked up her pen.

Keira arrived home and she took a much tougher stance than Lucy. This obviously led to a massive argument.

"You know what just do the detention then," Keira said, "But I think you're making a stupid decision."

"I don't care what you think."

Keira just huffed, not wanting to waste any more energy on this.

"Okay fine let's just have dinner and forget about it."

They ate together, chatting about their days and moving past what had just happened.

"Can I have a friend over this weekend?" Maisie asked.

"Yeah of course," Keira said, "Who is it?"

"Erin."

"Toone?"

"Yeah."

"You two are becoming quite the besties aren't you?" Lucy said in a teasing tone.

"Besties?" Maisie said, pulling a face, "You're way too old to be using that word."

"I'm not that old!"

"Yes you are," both Keira and Maisie said.

Maisie was super excited that Erin was coming over the following afternoon. She was full of energy and despite being difficult by not listening to instructions, Keira and Lucy were pleased that she was so happy.
