I'm not doing this

It was Keira's birthday and she had the joy of being woken up by Maisie leaping up on top of her.

"Happy birthday!" she shouted loudly and directly into her ear.

"Get off," Keira said, pushing her sister away. She was feeling very exhausted.

"I'm not getting off! It's your birthday," Maisie said, beginning to tickle her all over.

She tried to hide it at first, but soon enough Keira was in fits of laughter.

"Okay, okay," she howled, pushing her away successfully this time.

Maisie was now lying between Lucy and Keira and yapping away, despite the early time.

"Wait here," she said, "I've got your present."

She clambered back over Keira, managing to knee and elbow her in every place possible before dashing down the landing.

She returned not long later and handed Keira a few wrapped up parcels and a card.

Keira opened up the card and began to laugh when she saw it was a Get Well Soon card. She then started to read the message aloud.

"Happy birthday! I hope you have a great day and get good presents even though the best present you'll ever have is me being your little sister. You're really annoying but I guess I love you. Maisie," she read.

"That's brilliant," Lucy laughed.

"Thanks Mais," Keira said with a smile.

She began tearing the paper off the first one and instantly began chuckling when she saw it.

"Why have you got me a leaflet for a retirement home?"

"Because you're really old," Maisie said, beside herself at her own joke.

Keira then opened the next one. It was a book she wanted to read and she was pleased with it.

"Thanks mush."

The final one was a weird shape and Keira was very intrigued.

She pulled off the paper and began chuckling when she saw it.

"What is it?" Lucy asked.

"Basically when I was about 15 and Maisie was 5, I had this stuffed toy and Maisie was angry with me so she put it in the oven and turned it on. By the time any of us realised what was happening, the thing was completely burned," Keira explained.

"You tried to act like you were too old to get a replacement," Maisie said, "And then I remembered it the other week so I thought I'd get it for you."

"Well thanks Mais. It's a very good present."

Lucy and Maisie then headed down to make Keira breakfast. She sat where she was, the stuffed toy on her lap and Narla lying beside her.

The sound of raucous laughter travelled up the stairs and Keira smiled; she loved her little family.

The pair eventually appeared with a whole breakfast selection laid out on a tray and they all chatted until it was time for Maisie to get ready.

"I'm bored," Maisie whined. She was lying like a starfish in the middle of the floor with Narla stood on her stomach.

She was currently without a phone as she'd got in trouble at school so there was nothing to do. She usually spent most of her time messaging Erin but without that, she didn't have anything to entertain herself with.

Eventually her whining became too much and Keira sent her out into the garden with a football.

"Come and play," Maisie begged.
