Chapter 1: Just Another Day

Hunter pov:

I woke up to a knock on the door. It was night so I was confused and puzzled about who it could be. Who would be knocking on my door at these hours? I woundered, three more knock were heard now, signaling me to get my ass out of bed now, I stood up and got out of bed and took one step before slipping on a piece of paper and falling on my ass, great fuckin way to wake up, good thing no one saw that, that would be embarrassing,

I quickly got back up up on my feet and looked for my mask which was located in my closet, I retrived me mask and went to answer the door, I opened my door to be meeted with a scout standing infront of me, saulting  me,

" Excuse me, golden guard, sorry to disturb you but emperor belos has requested your presence in the throne room,"

the scout said, perfeshonaly I may add, no hint of tiredness or anything,

" Okey scout, just gotta get changed, your dismissed "

" ah, actually he insisted me that I exqorce you there myself, also no need to change sir, his orders, wont take more than a minute,"

I nod my head slowly and excused myself to quickly put my boots on at least, telling the scout to wait outside the door, as I put my boots on I thought to myself why on titan would belos want to see me at this time of night, whatever it is it isen't good, no news is good after dark, I finished with my boots and quietly walked back to the door making sure not to wake flap jack up, closing the door behind me,

" lets go "

I said to the scout,  he excorted me to the thrown room, walking throygh the hallways, to my shock there were a handful of scouts still up, guarding the palace and doing chores, we eventually made it to the throne room and knocked on its big wooden doors, we waited for a second, uncertain if he was in there until we finally heard him,

" come in"

Me and the scout entered, kneeling in front of the emperor, waiting for him to speak.

" That will be all for now scout. You may resume your work" the emperor said, waving his hand, the scout nodded in response before getting up and walking away, leaving the room, I stayed kneeling, waiting for him to speak,

" you may rise hunter, and please, take off your mask, it just us."

I stood up and took my mask off, holding it with my right arm,

" I'm sorry for waking you up hunter, but I have a job for you in the morning, this is a top secret mission hunter, no one can know of this,"

" Whatever I can do for you, uncle, just name it," I said, determined to make him proud.

" I know you will. Now you and Darius will be meeting with Odalia Blight and Alador Blight, to see the Abominations they are producing, you will be observing, while Darius trys to make a deal with the Blights to start making a dozen or more Abominations for the emperor coven"

I nodded my head in understanding, I always liked hanging out with Darius. He's a good guy, and he's one of a handful of people here that I actually talk to here at the castle. 

" understood uncle, but that sounds too simple. Is there anything else?"

I asked a little confused, why would this be a top secret mission?

" hehehe, yes, hunter, you're actually going to be on a side mission on this mission. Darius can not know about this. No one can for that matter. You will take this bug and camera and put it in Alador Blight workshop and return to observing. Sooner than later, we'll will not be needing the Blights help, and when that happens, we will already know how to make them ourselves."

I nodded my head, " Yes, sir, " I said, still standing in the middle of the big empty thrown room,

" And hunter.... this mission can not be a failure. If you fail this mission, you will be punished severely, understand?" Uncle says while standing up, walking toward me now,

" Yes, uncle, I will not fail you, "

I say. Uncle is now standing in front of me. He puts his hand on my shoulder, patting me,
" Good, get some sleep and report to Darius room first thing in the morning, you are dismissed,"

I put my mask back on and left the throne room, slowly walking back to my room, thinking about the last time he punished me, it was 2 weeks ago, the owl lady and her rat tricked me and a couple of scouts, she robbed us, getting away with a lot of snails, when I reported the incident to uncle, he wasn't so happy, he wiped my back with his hand that deformed into an sharp weapon, he told me that, failures get punished and that he was teaching me a valuable lesson, I certainly learned my lesson that day.....

I got back to my room, putting the bug and camera on my desk, and taking my mask off, I ploped into bed, ready to go back to sleep, closing my eyes, a few seconds later when I did this I sundently heard a chip behind my head, I lifted my head, confused and looked to my left to see flap jack under my pillow with his head sticking out, looking at me, with what I can only assume was bed head which looked adorable on him,

" oh, sorry flap jack, you should be asleep, what you doing up?"

Chirp, chirpp, chirpp, chirp

" I'm sorry, uncle wanted to see me, I have a mission tomorrow and before you ask you can't come, but when I return, I have nothing else to do sooo maybe we can go on a walk, would you like that?"

Chirp!!!

" Okey, go to sleep now." As I said that, flap jack flew back to the window and fell back to sleep, overlooking the nearby forest.

I tried going to sleep, but I couldn't. Sleep is hard for me. If that scout didn't wake me up then I would still be asleep, I stayed in bed just staring at the stone ceiling, thinking and just counting the stones, and before I knew it, the sun had started to rise, great, another sleepless night.

I put my uniform on, said goodbye to flap jack, and made my way to the lounge where they serve breakfast, im usually the first one there which isen't a surprise but today theres other people,  not just me for once, I enter to see a few scouts and some head witches, Darius being one. He's near the coff-scream machine getting coff-scream, not gonna lie he looks like shit, I may leave him alone for a few just for him to wake up, I grab a bloodie apple and make my way to a table thats near a window, I sat down and started eating it while looking out of the window, as I was taking in the view, finishing my few last bits of the apple Darius comes walking twords me, taking a seat across me,

" Good morning little prince, how did you sleep" I hate it when he calls me little prince,

" fine I guess" he could tell by my bags under my eyes that I was lieing but just let it slide, for now.

" so, did the emperor already tell you of the mission today" I looked at him and remembered the side mission I had to do aswell,

" yes, he told me to observe, take notes and such" I said, not telling Darius about the side mission im on.

" Good, yawn. Once I fully wake up, we will go to the landing docks and take a blimp, and while I fly, YOU can get some sleep, its obvious that you didn't get any, again," Darius says, taking a sip of his coff-scream.

I was about opose, say I didn't need sleep but was interrupted before I could speak,

" And don't worry, I won't tell belos,"

" Oh, umm, th- thanks, Darius,

"Don't mention it, little prince, now let's go, the quicker we do this the faster we can go home" and that's what we did, we made it to the landing dock, and left, making our way to the Blights manner, while Darius flew, I got cozy in a corner and slowly fell unconscious.
