A Day in the Past
The seven members of BTS had been given a rare gift: a week-long break. With their relentless schedule, this was a cherished opportunity to return to their hometowns, visit family, and reconnect with their roots. They each traveled to different parts of South Korea, filled with nostalgia and a touch of sadness, knowing they would miss each other.
Jin found himself back in Gwacheon, wandering the familiar streets with his brother. The quaint shops and the warmth of his childhood home brought a smile to his face, but he couldn't shake the feeling of emptiness without his six brothers around. Every corner of his home reminded him of the days they spent together, laughing and practicing.
In Gwangju, J-Hope spent his days at his family’s home, reminiscing about his early days in the city. The laughter of his parents and the comfort of his old room filled him with joy. He visited his old dance studio, where he spent countless hours perfecting his craft. The mirrors still bore the scuff marks from his shoes, and he could almost see his younger self, filled with dreams and determination. At night, he found himself scrolling through photos and videos of the group, missing their shared moments and late-night talks.
Suga, back in Daegu, was visiting his parents. He took long walks through the city, headphones in, listening to their music. The familiarity of the streets where he once dreamed of making it big was both comforting and bittersweet. He visited his old high school and the tiny studio where he used to produce music. The walls were covered in posters, and the air was thick with memories. He missed the hustle and bustle of their shared life, the studio sessions, and the spontaneous jam sessions that often stretched into the early hours of the morning.
RM was back in Ilsan, spending time at the local library where he used to study and read. He found solace in the peace of his hometown, surrounded by books and the quiet hum of students. He visited the park where he used to write lyrics, the bench still worn from his countless hours there. His thoughts frequently wandered to his bandmates. He missed their debates, their creative sparks, and the simple act of being together. The bond they shared was irreplaceable, forged through years of hard work and shared dreams.
In Busan, Jimin was surrounded by family and friends, revisiting his old school and favorite haunts. He walked through the narrow streets, the smell of street food bringing back vivid memories. The warmth of the familiar faces and places was heartening, but a piece of his heart longed for the stage, the shared moments, and the endless laughter with the other members. He found himself practicing his dance routines in his old room, the creak of the floorboards a familiar companion.
V, in Daegu, spent his time with his family, playing with his younger siblings, and catching up with old friends. He visited the fields where he used to play as a child, the tall grass swaying in the breeze. He felt a deep connection to his past, but each night, as he strummed his guitar, he missed the harmonies and the collective creativity that only BTS could bring. The solitude was a stark contrast to the vibrant energy of their group activities.
Jungkook, back in Busan, visited his old neighborhood, the gym where he used to train, and his favorite eateries. The nostalgia was intense, but so was the longing for the shared experiences, the support, and the brotherhood that BTS provided. He found himself humming their songs as he walked through the familiar streets, each note a reminder of the bond they shared.
By the end of the week, each member had a heart full of love from their families but also a deep yearning for the family they had chosen in BTS. On their last night apart, they all found themselves on a video call, sharing stories from their time at home, laughing, and teasing each other as if they had never been apart.
“I missed you guys,” J-Hope said, his voice filled with emotion.
“We’re a family,” RM said softly. “No matter where we are, we’re always connected.”
As the call continued, they realized how much they had grown since their trainee days. The hardships, the victories, and the countless memories they shared had strengthened their bond. They talked about their hopes and dreams for the future, each member expressing their gratitude for the journey they had embarked on together.
Jin shared a story about his brother's teasing remarks about his dancing skills, which had everyone laughing. “He said I should take lessons from Jungkook,” Jin said, chuckling.
“I’d be happy to teach you, hyung,” Jungkook replied with a grin. “But you’re already great.”
Suga talked about his walks through Daegu, how the city had changed and yet remained the same. “It’s funny how you can come back to a place and feel like you never left, but also feel like a stranger.”
Jimin nodded in agreement. “Busan is like that too. I love it, but I miss our practice room. It’s where we became who we are.”
V shared stories of his siblings, their playful antics reminding him of the light-hearted moments with his bandmates. “They’re so full of energy. It’s like having a mini version of our group at home.”
As the night went on, they fell into a comfortable silence, each lost in their thoughts. The screen flickered with their faces, tired but content. They knew that this separation was temporary and that soon they would be back together, creating new memories and continuing their journey.
They ended the call with smiles and promises to meet soon. The next day, as they boarded their respective trains and buses back to Seoul, their hearts were lighter. They knew that while their roots were in their hometowns, their home was with each other.
When they finally reunited at their shared apartment, the air was filled with excitement and relief. Hugs were exchanged, laughter echoed through the halls, and the feeling of homecoming was palpable. They spent the evening catching up, sharing the gifts they had brought from their hometowns, and enjoying a home-cooked meal.
As they sat around the dining table, Jin raised his glass. “To us,” he said, his voice filled with pride and affection. “To our journey and the memories we’ve made.”
“To BTS,” they chorused, clinking their glasses together.
In that moment, they knew that no matter where life took them, they would always have each other. Their bond was unbreakable, and their shared dreams would continue to guide them forward. Together, they were unstoppable, a family bound by love, respect, and a passion for music that transcended time and distance.
