Seeking Namjoon

Taehyung slumped into the corner of the couch, his bottom lip jutting out in an exaggerated pout. His eyes, soft and soulful, trailed over Namjoon, who was sitting at the dining table, absorbed in something on his laptop. For weeks, Taehyung had been vying for Namjoon’s attention, yet all his attempts had fallen flat. It wasn’t that Namjoon was being deliberately distant—no, Namjoon was never like that. But he had been so busy lately, his mind filled with work, projects, and endless tasks. It felt as though Namjoon was drifting further and further away, and Taehyung found himself missing him, his friend and leader.

Not that Taehyung had actually *said* anything about it. He wasn’t entirely sure how Namjoon would react if he knew. All Taehyung wanted was to feel like he mattered, like Namjoon saw him as more than just a bandmate or a close friend.

Taehyung glanced at his phone, pretending to check something, then sneakily peeked over the top at Namjoon again. Namjoon was deep in thought, his brow furrowed, typing away at his laptop. Taehyung groaned under his breath and rolled onto his back, flopping dramatically as though the weight of Namjoon’s indifference was too much to bear.

Jungkook, who was sitting nearby with his gaming controller, glanced over at Taehyung and snickered. “Hyung, are you pouting because Namjoon-hyung hasn’t looked at you in two hours?”

Taehyung shot Jungkook a look, and Jungkook shrugged with a grin. “It’s pretty obvious,” he teased.

“Shut up,” Taehyung muttered, but there was no heat behind it.

The youngest just chuckled before returning to his game, his attention quickly absorbed by the screen.

Taehyung sighed dramatically again, his arms spreading wide as he stared up at the ceiling. It was a mystery to him how Namjoon hadn’t noticed his pitiful display. He’d been practically shouting for attention without saying a single word. He even tried sitting closer, but Namjoon barely glanced up from his work, offering a gentle, “Hey, Tae,” before refocusing on whatever it was he was doing.

This time, Taehyung had enough. He was *done* being ignored, and if Namjoon wasn’t going to give him attention, Taehyung would just have to take matters into his own hands. A mischievous glint appeared in Taehyung’s eyes as he pushed himself off the couch, silently devising a plan. It was time for a cuteness attack.

He padded across the living room with quiet determination, stopping just short of Namjoon, who was still typing away. Taehyung cleared his throat, a soft “ahem” that Namjoon only vaguely acknowledged with a noncommittal hum. Undeterred, Taehyung took a step closer, this time crouching beside Namjoon’s chair.

“Hyung…” Taehyung whispered in a soft, almost sing-song tone, tugging on Namjoon’s sleeve.

Namjoon blinked, then finally turned to look at Taehyung. “Hmm?” he asked distractedly, still focused on the screen. “What is it?”

“Hyung…” Taehyung repeated, this time with a small pout, his large eyes widening in what he hoped was a convincing display of adorable neediness. “You’ve been working too much…”

Namjoon raised an eyebrow, finally turning to give Taehyung his full attention for the first time in hours. “I have?” he asked, sounding a little confused.

Taehyung nodded enthusiastically, his expression shifting into full-blown puppy-dog mode. His lips jutted out, and he let his voice turn into a whine. “You’ve barely spoken to me, Namjoonie-hyung…”

Namjoon blinked, taken aback by Taehyung’s sudden shift in demeanour. “Oh… I’m sorry, Tae,” he said, sounding genuinely apologetic. “I’ve just been really busy with this project…”
