The sky rumbled above them, almost muffling the sounds of war. However, Thranduil could not hear any of it. His focus was directly on the woman before him whose armor glowed, despite the grey clouds. Her hair a fiery flame that surrounded her; protecting her as if she was some kind of angel with a burning halo that flowed down and surrounded her in a delicate embrace. She stood tall, her face an expression of pure agony and anger. Her movements were swift and graceful, she gave the enemy no time to challenge her strength for they fell on the ground just seconds before getting an inch closer to her. He did not hesitate, nor was he afraid. On the contrary, he was slightly bewildered and enchanted by the so called monster that would no doubt slice through him if he even attempted to go near her. Blood made their way to her face, tainting her fair skin. Her eyes burned like the sun, with the intensity of her anger. Thranduil could not stop it anymore, the yearning in his heart pushed him to walk towards her.

He would not harm a single hair on her head. He was quite sure of that as he strode towards her as if enchanted by some spell and she was calling to him, her prey. When he was but a fair distance away, she had managed to arm herself with a bow and arrow, the dagger that gave him an unnerving feeling was shortly in the right side of her waist, hanging by a sheath. It made him more confident to close the gap between them as she continued to shoot anyone in her sight down; she had yet to notice him. The sky had rumbled again as she aimed her last arrow directly at an elf, not two feet away from her. Luckily, Thranduil was close enough to stop the arrow from hitting its target, it fell on the ground and he finally had her attention. Despite the lack of recognition from friend to foe, she had yet to kill one of them making relief swirl inside his chest for a short moment before her eyes found him. Her face was blank and she stared at him as he stared back. This was a battle meant for them, he knew this by the way they were purposely secluded and left alone. This was part of the plan and he thanked the gods that he had sent Legolas away. He thanked the gods, that it was he who would face her now. Loose strands of her hair covered her face and for a moment, he thought he saw her hesitate before unsheathing the long dagger by her waist. She prepared her stance, waiting for him to do it too. He cursed the ellon who had placed them in such predicament, and slightly cursed the gods for giving him, her, only to take her away from him repeatedly. To let her come into his life, merely to break his routine and thaw his frozen heart with the fire inside her. He unsheathed two of his swords, one was hers, he thought ruefully as the pain in his heart became unbearably evident. With another round of thunder, they had started their dance.

The warriors of gold and silver armor stood up above all else, as the fighting ensued. Some of them even stopped to watch as Mantheniel and Thranduil seemed to be equally skilled, like they were just performing. Each step was in harmony as if they predicted each other's movements. Soldiers, dwarves, men and elves alike, watched with fear and awe at the captivating fight in the middle of the battlefield. Lindethiel stood a few feet away, pulling her sword out of an orc's chest. She was breathing heavily, not really meant to endure such a battle without so much of a rest. She swayed and she was sure she was going to faint when an arm had appeared on her waist, supporting her as she tried to regain her strength. Her eyes had not left the King and her friend. It made her heart ache to see them go against each other but she could not help but gape at their equal strength. Mantheniel really was the strongest elleth she had ever encountered, matching a king who was known to have never fallen in battle. She had once thought that Mantheniel had changed much about the King and his palace, almost as if the whole forest was starting to become alive again. She watched in horror as Mantheniel lurched towards the king, her sword missing him by a second. She let out a gasp as Thranduil swiftly evaded her and took a step around her. They were both heaving. Lindethiel wondered if Thranduil would finally fall in a battle, but hoped he would fall not because he was injured but because there was no use in fighting because Mantheniel would wake up. She knew Mantheniel would, somehow, but she did not know when or how.
