Ade woke up around the same time he did every morning, 7AM. The birds were chirping, the sun was brightly shining through his huge bedroom window that he usually kept only partially covered, and for the first time in months he could just lay there with his mate in his arms.
It almost felt like some type of Disney movie with how peaceful it was, that was until he realized his mate wasn't wrapped in his arms, nothing was. He reached an arm out to where he thought Stefan would be only to be met with a cold empty space.
His eyes were hooded with sleep as he blinked awake, shielding his eyes from the bright sun as he sat up and looked at the empty space beside him. His brows furrowed in confusion as he looked around the room, there was nothing out of the ordinary, and the bathroom door was open so he knew Stefan wasn't there.
He climbed out of bed, rubbing the sleep from his eyes as he walked to the dark restroom, flipping on the lights before starting the shower. For a second there was a wary feeling that washed over him. It's natural for an alpha to feel protective of their mate so he quickly tried to shake off the feeling, continuing his shower.
He made quick work of getting dressed, heading downstairs to the first floor of the packhouse where multiple pack members had already started plating the fresh food set out on the huge dining room table. Ade could feel his wolf growing anxious as they looked around and still found no sight of their mate, 'Calm down.' He snapped, his own emotions starting to become affected by the grumbling wolf as he gave nothing but a growl in reply.
He ignored his wolf's grumbles as he left the packhouse, skipping breakfast as he decided to go out and look for where Stefan could've gone. As he made his way to the dirt path that led to the pack town he ran into a familiar face, Luke.
The alpha quickly greeted the pregnant male, too preoccupied with trying to find his mate to realize Luke had asked him something, "Alpha? Are you looking for Stefan?" The warrior asked, repeating his previous question and causing the alpha to finally put enough attention into their conversation to actually respond.
"Have you seen him?" He questioned back, not answering the other wolf's question. "Earlier this morning, maybe an hour ago?" Luke replied, a quiet almost relief-like breath leaving the alpha at his answer.
"I asked him where he was going and he said he was heading to school to submit a project, I think the one he had been doing with Gamma Joseph's mate." He explained, going on to say that he had asked the teen wasn't it too early to go to school and if he was sure he didn't want to wait for breakfast to finish.
"He told me he had a lot to think about and that since it takes a while to get to school by foot, he thought he would just go for a walk to clear his mind." Luke could see an almost anxious look in the alpha's eyes at his explanation.
Ade couldn't understand why he would have so much to think about after what happened the night before, since after Stefans confession the two mates laid themselves down in the bed, falling asleep comfortably wrapped in eachothers arms. It seemed like everything had finally started to slowly fall into place and they were, if not fully, at least getting closer to being able to move on together.
"Were you planning on going to morning training?" Luke suddenly asked, breaking the alpha out his thoughts; Believing it would help for the alpha to get out and train with the rest of the pack since he'd been too busy focusing on Stefan and helping look for Savannah to attend any like he usually would. "I think it could do you some good, plus I think Zane misses having his sparring partner..."
Ade gave a small laugh at that but nonetheless agreed to join in on the morning training, following the pregnant male in the opposite direction of the pack town as they headed toward where the pack usually met for training.
Once there Ade continued to follow Luke until they met up with his mate, Abeo. They spent a few minutes talking before Abeo said he was going to start the training. Luke took his spot next to his mate as he listened to him announce to the large group of wolves what they would be doing.
He loudly announced that they'd do hand to hand combat training, explaining that they weren't allowed to shift at any point during their sparing. After the Warrior's order everyone got to work getting into pairs of two, excluding Luke as he was one good day away from giving birth.
Ade looked around the crowd of his pack members, making his way towards his beta once he had finally found him, only a little surprised when he was met with a smile that did a very poor job at hiding the beta's true unwelcoming feelings towards him.
Ade let out a quiet breath, already knowing the wolf would still be upset on behalf of what happened between him and his brother the last time they had spoken. Like Zane had said he would, he hadn't had much interaction with the alpha outside of his natural duties as his beta, the wolf having been very serious about wanting Ade to actually apologize to Kyle.
Well, it wasn't like Ade hadn't tried to apologize to his younger brother, he had, but it was harder to get in contact with him than he had initially thought. Truthfully, he hadn't really been too worried about it at first, since Kyle had never been the type of person to hold a grudge.
That kind of thinking lasted for the first couple of weeks after their argument and had slowly disappeared once he realized Kyle had still not moved back into his room in the pack house.
Ade didn't have time to try and continue a conversation as the time for them to spare came, after years of sparring against each other they were almost evenly matched when it came to the fighting knowledge they knew about each other, but of course by the end Ade naturally won thanks to him being an alpha.
Even when the training finally came to an end the two wolves still didn't have a conversation, instead going their separate ways with Zane leaving to his parents house, and Ade going back to his room within the packhouse.
Once in his room he undressed himself on the way to his bathroom, tossing his sweaty clothes in his dirty clothes hamper as he entered the shower, taking his time bathing before getting redressed, leaving his room, and going to his office, deciding to spend the rest of his time finishing pack work as he waited for Stefan to get out of school.
The time flew by slower than he thought it would, maybe because he could only focus on the grumbling wolf that wouldn't stop pacing around his head, but eventually he could see the car that went to pick up his sister and mate pulling into the circular driveway in front of the house.
He let out a sigh, deciding to go down and meet them since he hadn't been able to get any work done anyway. He rolled his eyes as his wolf pushed him to walk faster as he made his way down the stairs and to the first floor, surprised to find Eze sitting in the living room talking to Bella.
Eze's head turned to her older brothers, her smile dropping as she noticed the confused look on his face, "Where's Stefan?" He asked, his expression only turning more confused when his sister responded with a 'what do you mean?'
"Stefan didn't go to school today?" She answered in a questioning tone, confused on how he wouldn't have known that.
"What are you talking about? Luke said he talked to him this morning and Stefan had said he was heading to school." He explained, he could feel him and his wolves' nerves rising as Eze's expression only turned more confused at his explanation.
"Ade.." Eze breathed, a look of concern taking over her face as she glanced over at Bella who was beside her with an expression that mimicked both her and Ade's. "Stefan wasn't at school today." She repeated, emphasizing the word so that he knew she was being serious and was one hundred percent sure that what she was saying was true.
"Then where is he?"
