Akaza regretted everything. He regretted agreeing to come to the library. He regretted sitting next to Douma. And most of all, he regretted thinking this study session would be peaceful.

The only reason he was here was because Kokushibo had told him to "expand his mind beyond fighting." and Douma..ever the opportunist had latched onto the idea like a leech.

"We should study together, Akaza-dono!" Douma had said with that insufferable grin. "It'll be fun~"

Yea. Fun.

(At Library)

Akaza sat hunched over a book, trying to focus while Douma leaned way too close, whispering nonsense in his ear.

"Akaza-dono, did you know that your serious face is so attractive?" Douma said, propping his chin on his hand as he stared at Akaza with shining eyes.

Akaza twitched. "Shut up, Douma."

"But why?" Douma sighed dramatically. "You look so focused... it's kinda hot."

Akaza slammed his book shut. "I SAID SHUT UP"

The librarian's head shot up from the front desk, glaring at them. "Quiet! This is a library!"

Akaza stiffened, lowering his voice into a deadly whisper. "If you say one more stupid thing, I swear-"

Douma blinked innocently. "But I was just admiring you, Akaza-dono! Oh look, your ears are red~ How cute!"

"SHUT UP, YOU IDIOT!" Akaza nearly stood up as his face burning with embarrassment and rage.

A loud shush came from multiple students around them. Akaza clenched his fists while taking deep breaths to stop himself from punching the smirking man beside him.

Douma snickered. "Aww...Akaza-dono, don't be shy~ If you want me to whisper sweet things into your ear, I can lean even closer-"

SMACK!

Akaza shoved his palm against Douma's face, pushing him away. "Study or leave!!" Douma, still grinning, finally sat back properly and flipped open his book. "Alright, alright~ But next time, we should study somewhere more private, don't you think?"

Akaza's eye twitched violently.

"Final warning." the librarian snapped, shooting them a death glare.

Akaza exhaled sharply and forcing himself to focus on his book. Beside him, Douma hummed happily as if he hadn't just been seconds away from being thrown out.

And somehow, despite all the chaos, Akaza still found himself... not entirely hating it. But he'd rather die than admit that.
_

Akaza tried..he really tried to focus on the book in front of him. But how was he supposed to concentrate when Douma kept shifting in his seat like an overexcited child?

Every few seconds, he could feel Douma's gaze burning into the side of his face. It was irritating.

"...Why are you staring at me?" Akaza muttered, eyes never leaving the page.

"I'm just admiring how cute you look when you're mad, Akaza-dono~" Douma whispered, his breath warm against Akaza's ear.

Akaza gritted his teeth. "Do you have a death wish?"

"Maybe. But if it means being killed by you, what an honor that would be." Douma smirked.

Akaza snapped his book shut. "GET AWAY FROM ME, YOU CREEP!"

A deadly silence filled the library.

The librarian..a stern looking woman, slowly stood up from her desk..staring them down with an expression of pure judgment. Around them, other students peeked over their books, watching the drama unfold.

"You two." The librarian said, her voice dangerously calm. "Out. Now."

Douma gasped. "Oh no, Akaza-dono! We're getting kicked out on our first date?"

"THIS IS NOT A DATE!" Akaza shouted, his face burning in frustration.

"That's it!" The librarian grabbed a ruler from her desk and pointed toward the exit. "Leave. Now."

Akaza groaned while grabbing his books and stomping out. Douma is completely unbothered, practically skipped after him, humming cheerfully.

Once they were outside, Akaza turned on him. "You are the worst person I've ever met." Douma beamed. "Akaza-dono, you flatter me! Does this mean we should study at my place next time?"

Akaza glared at him. "I will throw you into traffic, you bastard." Douma chuckled, unfazed. "Aww, don't be so shy! Just admit it..you love spending time with me."

Akaza turned away, his face slightly red. "You are so annoying...."

Douma laughed..falling into step beside him. Even though Akaza claimed to hate him, he didn't push him away.

After their disastrous study session at the library, Akaza stormed ahead while grumbling under his breath. Douma followed like a happy puppy, hands behind his head, completely unfazed by being kicked out.

"Akaza-dono~" Douma sang. "How about we get some ice cream as an apology for my adorable behavior?"

Akaza shot him a glare. "Your behavior wasn't adorable. It was fking annoying."

Douma gasped dramatically, clutching his chest. "How cruel! My poor, fragile heart-"

"You don't have a heart." Akaza muttered.

Douma pouted, then grinned. "Well, maybe I can borrow yours~" He winked.

Akaza froze.

For the first time, Douma's voice wasn't teasing. It was softer, almost genuine. He turned to look at him, finding Douma staring at him..not in his usual playful, mocking way but in a way that made his stomach do something weird.

Something stupid.

"...You're ridiculous.." Akaza huffed, turning away quickly before Douma could see the faint blush on his face.

Douma chuckled. "But you like my ridiculous, don't you?"

Akaza didn't answer. Instead, he kept walking.

And for once, Douma didn't push. He just walked beside him, humming softly, letting the silence between them settle..not awkward, not tense. Just... comfortable.
