Shopping trip for Liz

Jason and I strolled through the quiet mall, stopping in stores and looking at literally everything possible.

It should've been easy to find a gift for Liz, but apparently it wasn't going to be this time.

"What about that store?" Jason pointed to the next one on route.

"Uhh Lego?" I noticed. "Actually maybe."

We walked in to the bright colored store and looked around.

"Actually yes." I said in awe. "This place is amazing!"

Jason smiled from beside me. "Maybe you need a Lego set too."

I laugh. "Ha, I'd love one, but I'm here for Liz, not me."

Jason shrugged. "We can be here for you too."

I shook my head, "nope, exclusive Liz shopping trip."

"If you say so.." he said dismissively.

I narrowed my eyes at him. "I'm serious."

"what if I wanted to buy myself something? You can't stop me." He challenged.

"Well fine, do so!" I threw my hands up in defeat. "If I came to buy something for me I'd leave with a hole in my wallet."

That wasn't particularly true.

The real reason was the price. I see a large number and it makes me die a little.

If it's for Liz, I can power through it, but for me?

I'd feel guilty, if I'm going to be completely honest with myself.

Even if I'm out of the poverty zone mom and I used to be in, I couldn't help living rationally.

I see all this money and it makes my heart hurt for my mom.

She deserved so much more than the life she had.

"Do you.. like that set?" Jason asked, startling me from my thoughts.

He was reaaaally close, reminding me of our close encounter earlier, which was still too fresh. Just thinking of it drew a blush.

I can't think of him that way! I've only known him as a friend for like a month! Almost two if you count our brief interactions as customer and employee..

I really enjoy our friendship, but was that moment.. was it a sign? If his alarm hadn't have gone off would we have kissed?

"Percy?"

I jumped. "What?"

"That set? Do you like it? You've been staring at it for like five minutes now."

I took a look at the set and studied it. "Yeah, actually I do." It was an orchid set, and it did look cute.

"You going to get it for Liz?" Jason asked.
