The Midnight Gala

Saturday, 5th of October

"Piper!" I exclaimed. "This dress is actually nice..."

"Yes, you're stunning as always, but Percy!!" She helped me up and hugged me tight.

"It's been forever! how is it here? A bookstore, right?"

I nod.

"Yeah, it's been really nice."

"And a Gala- hosted by the Wayne's no less, what are you doing here?"

"I'm friends with Jason.." I gesture to the still blinking in confusion man beside me.

"Friends.." Piper narrows her eyes at us, pausing and letting the air hang between us silently before she finally evaluated: "Uh huh. Keep telling yourself that."

"Piper-"

"So how do you know the daughter of a famous movie actor..?" Jason asked slowly.

"Oh, we just got thrown onto a field trip together, nothing too big." Piper said nonchalantly.

I started nodding along, for a moment believing that's exactly how it went before I realized Piper was using charm speak to make the story more convincing.

A familiar blonde haired guy in glasses strolled in with- I suppose what must've been pipers bag.

"Jason!" I exclaimed excitedly.

Both the Jasons looked up at me, one in confusion, the other in surprise.

"Percy?"

Jason Grace offered me a fist bump. "What's up my dude, it's been a hot minute!"

"Nothing really, just work." I shrug.

"You know him too?" Jason Todd interjected.

"Yeah, he's my cousin."

"Crazy how dna works..." Jason shrugged. He slung an arm around Pipers shoulder.

"You forgot your purse, babe."

"Thanks Jason." Piper smiled lovingly as she took the bag, slinging it over one shoulder.

"So how has the life been.. any... interesting things..?" Rachel asked, insinuating most likely my mission to find a haven from monsters.

"It's been well.. not.. perfect but well." I smile shifting my eyeballs towards Jason Todd in a manner that said LATER.

Piper, Rachel and Jason Grace all nodded in understanding. Jason Todd wasn't in on the secret, and it definitely wasn't the right time or place to reveal that.

"So Jason.. I heard there was a fund raiser auction tonight.." Piper said, shifting the topic away from me.

Jason Todd nodded. "From what I've heard, yes. We've been organizing an effort to help support the victims of the recent Joker attack, and I believe my Father commissioned an artist to paint something to help raise funds."
